The ones that started this series!
Samukai is the first main villain of the entire Ninjago series, and he just, does not matter at all. Like he's technically the reason the Ninja unite in the first place, his death is what leads to Garmadon getting his iconic four armed form. He weirdly has a major link to Zane's backstory with him being revealed to kidnap Dr Julien? And yet... he's got no real dynamic with any of the Ninja in his brief time on screen, this is evidenced by the fact that the rest of the villains in day of the departed have actual reasons for picking the Ninja they try to kill. And Samukai... is just saddled with Jay because he's the only guy left for him to fight. No one in universe ever really acknowledges him as one of the great villains of Ninjago's history(outside of DOTD) What is the point I am trying to make with all of this? I genuinely don't know, I just find it fascinating to think/talk about how little Samukai really amounts to in the grand scheme of things

You're telling me Zane didn't lose his memory switch until he blew up whilst fighting the Overlord? Is that seriously what the show went with? You know, I'm not really shocked. It does help me continue my suspicions of Doctor Julien, a man who always made me uncomfortable but who died too soon for me to ever get a positive read on him. His debut episode left more questions than answers, and I couldn't form any connection with him. If I were writing the show, I may legitimately have dedicated a season to exploring his backstory.
Honestly, we should have had that season. Tie it back into my idea of revisiting the Skulkin. Considering Samukai held Dr. Julien hostage after making him build technology for him, I need to know the secretive connections these two had. I feel like Dr. Julien living a weird life in the woods as a hermit makes me distrust him more. He made weapons for the Skulkin and he hid in the woods. I don't care what order those happened in, I feel like a man living in the woods had to be hiding from something.
You know my idea? He was a war engineer in his youth, our Dr. Julien. He was a bad man once, and he did bad things. Made weapons of war. Guns and tanks and more. But he eventually realized the evils he was commiting, so he betrayed his benefactors and fled. He was already old by this time, so a few years after running away he built himself a son. That son helped him to rediscover his humanity, at least as much as he could do. And that son was Zane. The memory switch existed as a precaution, in case Zane ever learned that his father used to be a war criminal. That's why he wouldn't remove it. But he did truly love Zane. And I guess he loved the Echo Zane he built, although I imagine Echo's existence helps prove all my theories. Dr. Julien needed Zane to give him a sense of humanity back. When he lost his first son, he made a replacement model. But he never loved the replacement like he did the original.
Is this plotline too intense? I don't think so. It teaches us some valuable lessons. People are complicated. People can be good and bad all at the same time. And war is bad. That's really the core message that even this morally complicated Dr. Julien would have learned. War is hell, and he would make it no more. He learned from his crimes, and he grew more of a conscience. Not enough to abandon his replacement child, but enough to not want to make weapons anymore.
i cant help myself- i do this all the time with anything i like that has merchandise of any kind ngl-
im nowhere near done lmao
(i also am very aware i will probably never get anywhere close to half of these sets, this is genuinely just smth i like doing for fun lmao)

Samukai acts so intimidated in this scene. Bro, what did Garmadon do? I want to know how Garmadon met and convinced Samukai to work for him. It was probably just through threats, but still, I'm curious.
The serpentine had prophecies and tales about "the golden master". Maybe they had something about Garmadon too. He's kinda very important, so it would make sense. I wonder if there was any communication at all between skeletons and serpentine, if they could share knowledge and culture and stuff. Before the latter were sealed away, that is.
Though, we see skeletons so very rarely in the show. There were no legends or myths or history about them in Ninjago (as far as I recall) like there were about the Serpentine. Maybe they just keep to themselves in their underworld and don't really interact with the outside much.
I don't even really consider them as warriors. They do too bad of a job at it. They're not taking it seriously. It's not important to them. They probably haven't even really ever battled much before Samukai began taking orders from Garmadon.
The skeletons and what little we see of them in the show strike me as a generally chill, secluded cummunity that's friendly and familial in its own way. I really want to know more about them and the underworld as a whole. We haven't seen much of it. And as far as I remember, it was never mentioned after season one. Such a shame
