When funding Valley Girl, the studio designated a set amount of nude scenes the director had to include in the movie as a requirement for the director. Martha Coolidge wasn't directing that sort of film, and so instead complied by making those scenes last only a few seconds, so as to check the boxes but only just.
I'm convinced that Amir Shervan had the opposite going on. He was limited to a set amount of sex scenes in Samurai Cop, and so decided to really stretch his dollar and make em last. And the movie isn't even good.
Samurai Cop is a Miami Vice meets Bottom of the Barrel Chuck Norris flick about a long-haired cultural expert* being brought in by the LAPD to combat the Japanese mob. It's not good.
Every interaction Samurai Cop has with a woman or minority is an HR violation. All the dialog is ADR, and not subtly so. Due to reshoots, random intercuts will randomly show the titular Samurai Cop in a horrendous wig. The production had access to like, 5 guns, and you can tell. Samurai Cop's firearm switches from an M9 to a Hi-Power multiple times within scenes. the framing on two shots is insane. The performances are delivered with all the depth of a saucer of stale water. This is the finest direct to video action film in existence.
It's a really bad film. I could keep on listing its flaws and hilarity, but I think you get the point. Go watch it.
