Did full art for the first time in months in like 6-7 hours straight… the power of hyperfocus and a lack of pressure is immense and beautiful. Helps that it’s also of the LOML yk?

The background is a little flat but eh whatever might fix it might not- if I do I probs won’t post it but we’ll see!

The problem is with an obscure f/o is that you have to make any merch yourself. GOOD THING IM AN ARTIST!

I need to make jackal into a marketable plushie. Simple as that. (Speedpaint below the cut)

I used a base that I found on google images since this isn’t my usual art style at all (credit/artist signature is in the bottom left corner until the ears get added)

This is probably true for all obscure things but IT IS AN ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL FEELING TO LEARN THAT SOMEONE ELSE KNOWS YOUR OBSCURE F/O (especially if it’s someone IRL)

To whomever is reading this: I hope one day you find one other person who knows and loves that obscure thing/character that you love. (And that you click with them well!)

Yesterday I was hanging out with a newer friend, we’ve clicked super easily and have a weird amount in common so despite them being newer I’m super comfortable around them.

Anyways we were over at my place and I was showing off my Jackal plushie project (I must have a physical SOMETHING of my f/o, but he’s not well known so natch I have to make him myself) and so I’m describing what he’s like and they go… “wait I think I know him… is he from Hollow VA” and I lost my shit because yes yes he is holy fuck you know him?!?? We then both lost our shit because FINALLY another person who listens to like ASMR and adjacent series. (We wound up giving each other recommendations teehee)

I know this is like an iconic moment for a lot of fans of less popular things where you finally meet someone else who also knows ‘The Thing’- but wow I was not prepared for how giddy it made me. I frankly didn’t think it would happen to me at all, least of all with the nice (now former) stranger I sat down next to in a psych class.

So yeah! I now know one (1) other person who knows my F/O and completely gets it! (I’m too shy online to get it from here sorry fellow Jackal fans who I don’t directly talk too 😔)

Just realized I never posted this!

I finished embroidering Jackal’s face and making a mockup! (don’t have a photo of the mockup right now soz)

I feel really happy with it- especially considering it’s the first piece of embroidery I’ve done. Is it flawless? No. I think it’s charming though- you can see it’s handmade.

I actually finished this a month or so ago- I just have been way too busy with real life things to be able to get back to work on it. When I do get back to it I just need to make sure I know what I’m doing with his ears, and then it will be time for me to make the final body!

This has taken a lot longer than expected but I think that’s good- hopefully it will mean I am satisfied with the result (because I took my time)

As someone with a fashion loving mind I highly recommend you start to associate a type of fabric with you and you’re F/O

Like for me and the doorman? Velvet, especially red velvet. What else could it be?

For me and Jackal? Lightweight linens- breathable, practical, and pretty.

Me and Nightcrawler? It’s between cashmere and very small tight knit. Both maybe?? Idk.

It can be anything, it’s just a fun way to incorporate your F/O into everyday materials that you wear/see/use!
