Reincarnated!Mensheng and Sangshen was my most unexpected ship, but I’m SO down for it, that’s SO good
even in other lives, they get to be parents!! even if they’re not Yue’s parents this go around, Mensheng got his wish of being a daaaaaaaad
Honestly, I'd like to think that their souls were drawn to each other because they loved the same brilliant little girl but had to leave her too soon. They're free to love and raise their Bai He in this life, but they can't help but be left with an undecipherable feeling when they watched Yuebei Xing go.
I had a what if scenario running through my head for a while now but I wanted to ask a question about QoTM. What would have happened if Yishan was a loving father to Yue from the start. Would things have gone differently?
Also what would have changed if Yue was born male because I remember reading in one of the chapters that having daughters as heirs were unconventional. If Yue had been born male would Yishan been forced to pay attention to Yue because of being the heir of the heir or would Yishan do whatever he could to not interact with Yue?
If Yishan was a loving father, so much would've been derailed. So. Much. Like, Yue's position in the clan would have been better. So much better. But also so much worse since she'd be targeted. Also, no child marriage for her. Over Yishan's dead body. The things he has already done for love. No one who suggested the marriage idea would've been left alive lmao.
If Yue was born male, Yishan would've used her - er, him to bring up Sangshen's position. And yes, he'd also personally train his son to be his heir. With how difficult the pregnancy was, Yishan wasn't planning of having any more children. Which means that Yue has to stay alive. Otherwise, he's apathetic. No paternal bone in his body.
A question related to QotM. What would have happened if Yue's mother hadn't died before the start of the otome game?
Sorry if this question has already been asked. Thanks for any response!
Well, Yue def wouldn't have been sent as a child bride, that's for sure XD. Sangshen would've fought tooth and nail and Yishan would've stood by her even if he wasn't the fondest of his daughter. Some talks would happen between the kingdoms and the six-eared siblings would've reunited.
There are also other AUs with Sangshen not being dead by the time the Otome Game timeline rolls around like the Replanted AU.
What would have changed if yue had played all the routes before she died
A lot. It would have changed A LOT.
Like, for one, Yue would know EXACTLY who she was related to the moment she saw that Sangshen had six ears. And when Sangshen told Yue about her tragic backstory and her dead little brother? Well, Yue did some scheming to make Sangshen aware of a certain six-eared warrior serving the infamous Monkey King.
And, just like that, the Zodiac Monkey Clan reached out to Flower Fruit Mountain requesting the Six-eared Macaque to visit his sister. Wukong came too. While neither was very impressed by the Clan, they both adored Sangshen and Yue. They were also friendly with Shanzha (literally the only decent person in the clan and a fellow Yue enthusiast). The timing also had them cross paths with the Red-Buttocked Baboon and the Long-Armed Gibbon, who were watching after Yue.
Wukong and Macaque would play an active role in Yue's life, even bringing her over to FFM with them for a visit (at Yishan's insistence.) During this period, Yue would play matchmaker. Even though the two were friendly with her Aunt Shanzha, she couldn't risk any chances. So the Truth Route HAD to be triggered.
Sangshen passes away like in canon unfortunately. She leaves Yue in Macaque’s care since there’s no way she’s leaving her in Yishan’s. Macaque carried her all the way home after the funeral and Wukong welcomed them home with open arms. It was bittersweet.
Not long after Yue left for FFM permanently, RinRin was pulled out of Diyu by Shanzha. It was love at first sight for the both of them. Since she heard Macaque complain about her, Shanzha recognized RinRin instantly and made arrangements to get her back home. At the meantime, they had this cute little whirlwind romance/situationship filled with looks of longing and almost kisses. Then, Shanzha let her go back to FFM and remained in LoES.
You’d expect some drama but no, there wasn’t. RinRin kinda breaks up with Wukong point blank the moment she returned and all but tells him to kiss Macaque already (he does). Then, she goes and mopes in a hut. She only comes out whenever Shanzha visits Yue (and her) every year. They pine and flirt and sigh after each other. Iceflower becomes Shadowpeach 2.0 and it drives FFM crazy.
When the Otome Game story rolls around, Shanzha ends up being the bride but everyone is significantly more chill about it.
Wukong: Look, I don't know what Heaven is scheming but - Oh hai, it's you. You're a bit early in your annual visit to see Yue.
Shanzha, tied up and in a wedding dress: Believe me, if this was planned I'd be here with presents.
Since Heaven states that Shanzha was a bride for the ruler of FFM (a fact Yue points out), RinRin takes the chance to reclaim her previous Queen status solely to snatch Shanzha from the palanquin and run off with her.
RinRin, cackling like a gremlin: Wife, wife, wife!
Not to be outdone, Wukong proposes to Macaque and suggests a Spring Wedding.
Some drama with Azure happens later but that’s not important. (Or is it?)
THE VOICES HAVE COMPELLED ME (your replant au has a chokehold on me)
So I sketched some character designs for Shangshen and Yishan uwu
Some close ups
Will color later cause i need to work on my art fight stuff ✨️UwU✨️
@fantasy-angelo Character designs??? For Yue’s parents???? You’re designing Yue’s entire family with your own hands omg. And you made Sangshen so pretty! I can see some subtle Macaque in some of her features. I see that she glamoured away her six ears like he usually does too! Also, Yishan - FFM’s rancid monkey who loves his wife. You made him so handsome and cold, just as I imagined him! The designs of his facial markings are on point too! And lol him simping over his wife at the corner. Yue certainly got her looks from her bio parents!
The details in their hairstyles and clothing are amazing! I don’t know how you manage to do this every time! Thanks for drawing this out in the midst of your art fight!
Au where spirit macaque clan never fell and macaque and sangshen are raised as royalty/clan heirs
Well, Sangshen and Yishan’s meeting would be completely different and Yishan would be the one marrying out of the clan if he ever successfully pursued her since Sangshen is the heir. (Macaque ran away from home to travel and fell in love with Wukong and stayed in FFM. Their relationship is uncertain.)
Macaque’s identity as “Prince Yue” would be a surprise to FFM the first time he left to visit home. Little Yue was born and Sangshen wanted him to meet his niece. Wukong came along and found himself not so subtly bullied into proposing to Macaque.
I don't know how this would happen, maybe sangshen and yishan never met, maybe yishan died instead of her, but au where wukong's celestial bride is sangshen.
OOOOOOh this would be so awkward for Wukong who looks at the black fur and six ears on his bride and blue screens. He can’t treat Sangshen cruelly when she looks so much like Macaque. Macaque, in turn, wouldn’t be able to hate his long lost sister as easily, especially with how overjoyed she was at his survival.
I’d say that for this to happen, Sangshen would have to be a widower. Yue would still exist as the clan would need a bargaining chip so Sangshen would be the bride. She would definitely beg for FFM to save her daughter (and Shanzha). Due to the timing, Sangshen wouldn’t have much time alive anyway so would live the rest of her life quietly as Wukong’s wife by name. She would raise Yue and shower Macaque with all the love she missed out on giving until her final breath.
Og yishan is a yandere and super possessive of his wife time. Flourish provably isn't a yandere, but how clingy is he
Flourish!Yishan is a simp. An absolute simp. He shows his love with acts of service and gift-giving. And, oh boy, are those gifts always impressive. Yishan is a romantic at his core. A true Gomez Addams to Sangshen's Morticia. He would happily die for her (and he has many times).
Yet, unlike his canon counterpart, Yishan's entire life and thoughts don't solely revolve around Sangshen. He has friends, family, and medicine. He also has an odd fixation on his in-laws (in the "loser" route anyway). Honestly, strange dynamic with SD!Shadowpeach aside, Yishan isn't as toxic as his canon counterpart. He's pretty healthy in comparison, actually (low bar, I know).
