About the Sansa Kidnap plot

I am getting major “Sansa will be kidnapped” vibes from the Season 8 trailer.

This moment from the trailer when Jamie says...

”I promised to fight for the living..and I intend to keep that promise”

quickly followed by a shot of someone gripping onto a bow with their left hand and then they show us a shot of Jon running......followed by shots of soldiers escaping out of Winterfell. This almost gives the impression that Jon is running after these escaping soldiers. 

Given all the theories we have regarding GC kidnapping Sansa...WHAT IF these shots are meant to foreshadow that???? WHAT IF these are GC soldiers that could be disguised as Northerners, that have managed to kidnap Sansa and now Jon has to go after them (figuratively) to get her back?

Trailers use vignettes of scenes to stitch together some semblance of plot points that will happen in the actual season and this particular order of scenes they have chosen to include in the trailer may hint towards the kidnap plot.

I am increasingly becoming certain of this kidnap plot and I think this right here could depict the GC kidnapping Sansa and secreting her out of Winterfell amidst the chaos of the battle with the AOTD, and then post-battle when Jon and the rest realize Sansa is missing, he leaves everything behind to go rescue Sansa.

Given that Jon and redemption arc!Jamie are positively mirroring each other, Jamie’s promise is meant to parallel Jon’s promise to Sansa in S06E09...

Jamie pledged to fight for the living against the dead last season and this season, he seems determined to carry out his pledge. This season Jamie will keep his oath and actually become “Oathkeeper”.   

And if Jamie can keep his promise, so can Jon. Because the only honest pledge that Jon seems to have taken since his resurrection is promising to protect Sansa. Of all the oaths Jon has taken and broken, this is the only one that matters to him and he will do anything to keep his promise to Sansa. This is the moment when Jon chooses love over duty.

The House Stark video that HBO released a while back, which also contained loads of foreshadowing for S8, had this shot of Brienne saying...

According to Kit Harrington, Jon is in love with “somebody”.....and that somebody is Sansa. Jon will be emotionally wrecked when he realizes that he failed to protect Sansa.

In order to rescue Sansa from the clutches of Cersei and the GC, he has to leave Daenerys and maybe this is the moment when Jon comes clean about his faux knee bending. 

I could envision a callback to S07E07′s scenes between Jamie and Cersei when Jamie decides to leave Cersei for good and Cersei says..”No one walks away from me”..but Jamie walks away. Cersei accuses Jamie of treason because he is headed North and to her, it counts as treason because he appears to be switching sides. Cersei is too far gone to understand the pragmatism of Jamie’s decision.

This actually parallels Daenerys saying the same to Jorah in S06E05

“Do not walk away from Your Queen, Jorah the Andal” 

after Jorah admits that he loves her. Jorah walks away with a pledge to come back because Jorah really loves Daenerys, his Queen.

In Season 8, we could get a scene where we have Jon saying he has to go rescue Sansa but Daenerys will be like “You bent the knee to me, I am your Queen” and Jon has to come clean and admit that a) he never did bend the knee, so she is not his Queen, and b) loves Sansa and like Jamie, he walks away from Daenerys, to go rescue his true love and says something like “I promised to protect Sansa and I intend to keep that promise”. 

This would mirror Jamie’s words to Cersei...

In Daenerys’s mind, this will constitute as treason, because she genuinely believes Jon bend the knee to her, and going over to Cersei’s camp to rescue Sansa, is like switching sides, because Cersei is her enemy.

And yes this is going to be her third treason for love. And then well, we know what’s coming...DRACARYS!

What if the kidnapping plot isn’t so much Sansa getting kidnapped but more so that now that Winterfell is defenseless and Cersei knows, she sends the GC. They lay siege to it. The northerners are left trapped inside (maybe food becomes an issue???) or the GC straight up takes over the castle and Sansa offers herself as a hostage for the sake of her people because she knows having Sansa in her clutches is an offer Cersei won’t refuse. So she gets taken to KL as a sacrifice so the northerners are safe and protected. If a kidnapping plot has to happen I’d rather it happen this way so at least sansa has some sort of agency and its HER idea to be taken. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m not super well versed in the Sansa Kidnap Plot, if I’m being honest, but here’s what I’ve picked up.

During filming there were some picture leaks of Sophie Turner, Lena Headey, and Kit Harrington filming in Croatia, where King’s Landing is filmed. Theories were made, including the possibility of Sansa being kidnapped by the Golden Company and brought to Cersei, who still blames her for Joffrey’s death.

Plus, there’s the whole throwaway line from Sansa before the Dragonpit Con that’s something like “if they want another stark prisoner they can come and take me” which seems like a certain gun hanging on the wall, if you know what I mean.

There’s also the fact that Cersei and Sansa just have Unfinished Business. It makes sense for there to be some sort of conclusion in their arcs, especially if you believe as I do that Sansa Stark is the Younger More Beautiful Queen in Cersei’s prophecy.

There’s also the fact that they KEEP SHOWING ALYS KARSTARK. Tbh she’s not that important of a character in the show, yet they keep inserting her into frames and scenes and it’s suspicious af. It really makes me think that she’s somehow related to this all, especially since they gave her red hair in the show, and that she’ll be mistaken for Sansa somehow.

I guess we’ll see.

Thoughts about Bronn’s Mission

So I’m a pretty big fan of the Sansa Kidnap Plot. Like most people, I hated it at first but the more I’ve thought about it, the more I love the idea of everyone still underestimating Sansa and thinking she can just be a damsel in distress only for her to play them all like fucking lutes and come out on top as per usual! 

I think the main theory about it is the Golden Company will come and take her during the White Walker attack on Winterfell, which I can definitely buy! But I’ve been thinking a bit about Bronn’s mission to go and kill Jaime and Tyrion.

I’ve also seen the episode descriptions for ep 3 and 4. In 3 it said ‘Sansa plays a game’ and in 4 it said ‘Cersei receives and unexpected guest’. So I’m thinking that...

In ep 3 maybe Bronn turns up during the White Walker Attack on Winterfell and while looking for Jaime/Tyrion he finds Sansa, alone (maybe she’s running from white walkers and hiding or something?) She recognises him from King’s Landing and through tactical chat, she figures out what he’s doing here and tells him how Jaime and Tyrion are out there fighting the dead. I know Tyrion is meant to be in the crypts but Sansa isn’t likely to tell Bronn where he can kill Tyrion because he was always kind to her and she’s just not like that tbh.

Bronn being Bronn would rather do anything than purposefully go out there and get himself killed looking for Lannisters and figures they’ll probably die in battle anyway. Yet he can’t go back to Cersei empty handed, especially since she’s paid in advance and would kill him if he failed etc etc. So knowing of Cersei’s hatred for Sansa and knowing she still considers her largely responsible for Joffrey’s murder, he decides to kidnap her in an act of self-preservation. 

Sansa, having no one to protect her at the time and Bronn probably threatening her with the crossbow, decides to play along and allow him to take her hostage. Playing the scared little bird to make him think she’s helpless. Little does he know he’s taking the YMBQ to Cersei Lannister and this time Sansa Stark is a master of the Game of Thrones. Ep 3 would end with her being taken and in ep 4 her and Cersei meet again. Sansa will play the game and win. After all...

“Many underestimated you. Most of them are dead now.”

& this to Littlefinger right in the next episode...

“Touch my sister...and I will kill you myself”

While LF has died, Jon’s threat still remains unfulfilled and that Chekhov gun will go off in S8.

So whoever is coming to kidnap Sansa/harm Sansa/touch Sansa/betray Sansa/Starks....be it Cersei, Euron, Tyrion, Daenerys, Jorah, ghosts of Joffrey, Ramsay, or Littlefinger, undead Viserion, the Mountain, IDK

you may want to watch your back.

Jon rescuing Sansa makes him Florian the Fool of the story

Here is the thing about the Sansa kidnap plot....

Jon and Sansa are the in-story Florian and Jonquil.

Jon has been called the greatest swordsman who ever walked (by Ramsay) and is the greatest knight.

And here is what is said about Florian...

"As great a fool as ever lived, and as great a knight as well."

"A fool and a knight?" said Jonquil. "I have never heard of such a thing.""Sweet lady," said Florian, "all men are fools, and all men are knights, where women are concerned."

Jon choosing love over duty, in wanting to go rescue Sansa when she gets kidnapped, makes him her “dear devoted knight-turned-fool” (Sansa I, ASOS) because he is devoted and in love with her.

Jon going on a quest to rescue Sansa, the in-story Jonquil, actually fits with these lines from Daenerys’ chapter in ADWD.

Dany folded her hands together. "Words are wind, even words like love and peace. I put more trust in deeds. In my Seven Kingdoms, knights go on quests to prove themselves worthy of the maiden that they love. They seek for magic swords, for chests of gold, for crowns stolen from a dragon's hoard."

Jon has to literally dump Daenerys, jeopardize his alliance with her, in order to go rescue Sansa from the clutches of Cersei and the GC. 

I mean, does it get any more FOOLISH than pissing off your alleged lover, who is mad and impulsive enough to DRACARYS the entire realm to kingdom come because “no one walks away from me” to rescue his real lady love???

It doesn’t but "all men are fools, and all men are knights, where women are concerned."

So yeah Jon realizing his role as the in-story Florian the Fool, who does the “most bravest and stupidest thing” to rescue his true love Jonquil, is absolutely in line with GRRM’s story.

And that’s why I think we have a solid chance of getting it.

(Additionally, the show already foreshadowed that Jon will choose Sansa as a parallel to Rhaegar choosing Lyanna and thousands dying as a result of it.)

Ghost-related headcanons

1. If our best boy, Ghost, is still alive post Battle of Winterfell, I would love it if he was the one to make Jon aware that Sansa is missing and has been kidnapped, given that he was tasked with “watch over her, for me” duties by Jon. What would be even better, is if Jon takes Ghost with him to King’s Landing to rescue Sansa from Cersei’s clutches....because of these lines from ASOS.

"The dwarf's wife did the murder with him," swore an archer in Lord Rowan's livery. "Afterward, she vanished from the hall in a puff of brimstone, and a ghostly direwolf was seen prowling the Red Keep, blood dripping from his jaws."

2. Since Tyrion has been at Winterfell before, he knows the basic layout of the castle. If he is in cahoots with Cersei (which he is) and has planned to aid in the kidnap of Sansa, as a way of atoning for his role in the deaths of Cersei’s children. I could see him being the one to let in the GC dressed as Northerners to kidnap Sansa, then I would love for this to happen...

The wolf pup padded closer and nuzzled at Jon's face, but he kept a wary eye on Tyrion Lannister, and when the dwarf reached out to pet him, he drew back and bared his fangs in a silent snarl. "Shy, isn't he?" Lannister observed.

..... “If I wasn’t here, he’d tear out your throat,” Jon said. It wasn’t actually true yet, but it would be.
