Trills

A trill, as notated above, is a musical ornament that is played similar to that of a grace note due to the rapid alernation of the written note and the next note immediately above or below it. As it is not written on the sheet music, it is up to the performer's taste on he or she will play the note above or below the principal note. A trill provides rhythmic interest, melodic interest, and — through dissonance — harmonic interest.

Well guys, it's finally over. My audition was saturday and while I'm not happy with my performance, I still believe I'm in a good spot. Nervous got the best of me during the recording so there were several note mistakes but I did good on everything else. I finished all my pieces while others also auditioning did not. For my first audition, I'm okay with this but I need to work on taking control of my nerves

Spent most of my day at my high school, helping out my guitar teacher set up and get ready for the new school year, make a department website, tune guitars, set up ensemble chairs, etc.. but I also got to meet the new band director and officially get signed up for honours jazz ensemble!! My guitar teacher gave me a fake book to start studying jazz and learning standards! I'm so happy. When I got home, I was able to practice guitar for about two hours, which isn't bad despite it being a lot short than normal. Question for you guys, am I the only one that likes to colour code their sheet music? Like red for dynamics, black for fingerings, blue for chords, etc?

My audition is coming up soon! Only 24 days away! I've been so busy with college stuff (such as contacting financial aid office and the guitar professor at Stetson) that I haven't been able to practice guitar outside of school but I'm on the last page and feeling good about it!
