Thinking back, Alec can see how willing Magnus was to include him in his culture. To open himself up like that, risking being unjustly judged by someone he cared about, just in the hope that Alec would treat this gift with care. And his wonderful warlock had enough trust, enough faith in him, that he wouldn't do something like laugh along with Jace's comment about eating like a Caveman. But he proved him so wrong, just laughing along with the others at what he saw as his parabatai just goofing around, unknowingly hurting and disrespecting the man he loves.
