Wishing Well Spell
A spell calling on the power of water to grant you a wish.
Needed:
Carving tool
A white candle
A small piece of paper
Pen
Conch shell or other shell that can close
🐚Sit at a table or your altar and think about the wish you want. Pick one thing that would make the most difference but is still entirely within the realm of possibility.
🐚Use your carving tool to carve one or two words relating to your wish into the candle, or any symbols you wish to use.
🐚Light the candle, then write your wish in full on the paper.
🐚Take the shell in your hands and repeat your wish three times, then place the paper inside the shell.
🐚Drip a few drops of candle wax on the shell to symbolize it being sealed. Blow out the candle.
🐚Now say, “By the power of Water my wish will come true. By the power of this shell its work will be done. By the power of this candle my wish will be found. By the goddess of love and the fire of the sun, within all that is possible, this wish will be won.”
🐚Now bury the conch shell under a tree or bush, or place it in a box with a lid somewhere it won’t be disturbed. Leave it for two lunar cycles or until your wish comes true. If it doesn’t come true within two lunar cycles, repeat the spell.

☽Grounding Yourself☾
Grounding literally means being in touch with reality. Being grounded is essential when you “come back” from a meditative or higher consciousness state and it is vital as a platform from which to state any meditative exercise.
This week in the PEN Poetry Series, PEN America features a poem by Sarah Bartlett.
Miscarriage
So mom I came out with a wallop and was ready to live covered in the rubies you made You looked at me saw your insides on the outside light laid across me like a dog on a lap We are still working around the extraction its fixed point sharp pointing north They dug me out so I could look back at you It’s important to relax into the experience Remember how I hated Santa’s hot red lap the faux fur and velour implied performance I screamed into every photo I can’t remember if I ever got what I asked for I arrived in the circle of your arms a witch a wild animal a hook and held you there I’m so sorry but I cough out uncomfortable galaxies I cough out mirrors I cough out your blood I cough out your mother’s blood I’m trying to get rid of it Don’t you see I’m holding all the blood for my sisters too their bodies always somewhere else

REVIEW
Iconic Tarot Decks by Sarah Bartlett
The History, Symbolism and Design of Over 50 Decks
Beautiful, informative, and filled with information ~ I found this book a delight to flip through and then spend time with. For someone wanting a brief introduction to a variety of historical and more current tarot decks, this was a treasure trove of information and a visual feast.
What I liked:
* The variety and number of decks shared
* The information about the decks including the history, who created them and their purposes
* That there was some information on how to use the decks for personal divinatory purposes
* Pondering what the cards might mean to me were I to use them
* The look into the history of tarot cards
* The various reasons the cards were decorated as they were
* Finding out who some of the artists of tarot cards were
* Wanting to find a few of the decks to add to my personal collection…need to write those down
* Being reminded of my thought of one day creating a personal deck of my own
* That there was not too much information to bog down the book
What I didn’t like:
* Can’t think of anything ;)
Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I buy it for myself or someone else? I might

The tarot is a treasury of divination, symbolism and self-knowledge. But who created its mysterious art and meaning, and why? What were they seeking? Does it originate in ancient esoteric wisdom or is this a vain fancy of the occultists? How has the interpretation and meaning of the cards evolved? In Iconic Tarot Decks, Sarah Bartlett (the international bestselling author) presents 50 of the most iconic tarot decks – telling the powerful stories of how each was devised and designed and showcasing their most exemplary cards. Each of the fifty-six decks in this book holds its own unique symbolism and mystical beginnings: from Visconti-Sforza, the fifteenth-century deck that reveals the fates of two Italian dynasties, to the Sola Busca Tarot, with its esoteric alchemical codex; from the pioneering Rider-Waite-Smith deck to the occult riddles of English Magic Tarot. With an introduction to reading tarot and useful tips on deciphering the cards – this is the perfect book for collectors, cartomancers, designers, tattoo artists and anyone interested in the art and mystery of tarot.
REVIEW
The Tarot Directory by Sarah Bartlett
Excellent introduction to the tarot that includes history, meaning, terms, use, care, and more. I loved the illustrations and that each page was colorful and informative.
The book is divided into: Key to the basics, major Arcana, Minor Arcana and Spreads with interpretation of them. I liked that each card was presented with information relevant to it, ways to become more in tune with each card and then how to put them together in meaningful ways.
I have seen the idea of “getting to know the cards personally” and learning from and with them before but especially liked the way this and a few other ideas were offered and explained. This book had several spreads to use and ideas for spiritual growth while using the cards.
This is a book I would like to add to my library and can see going through the decks I have one card at a time and getting to know them again and better than I have known them before.
