You‘re right about Sjm not being interested in Elain cause there was an interview long ago (It was post acowar) in which she compared Elain to Karen from mean girls (To me it Implies she thinks of her as stupid). Then that other interview (maybe last or 2 years ago?) when people ask her about Elain and she looked so bored and disinterested in her questions.
I always had this feeling that she doesn‘t like Elain that much, but Eluciens and Elriels always claimed she loves her so I kept my mouth shut.
Don‘t get me wrong, I think Elain has massive potential. She is actually the mysterious character people claim Azriel is (please, that loser is so predictable)— I just don‘t think Sjm is aware of it and doesn’t know what to do with her.
I do think in that interview where she looks bored, she's upset because she wants to talk about Nesta and ACOSF and she's fielding the dumbest questions about Elain. I'd be pissed off too if I wrote a book that I was proud of and everyone was like "okay and? Who is dicking down the last sister that's all I care about" and I sometimes wonder if that's not why we got this huge break between acosf and whatever is coming now.
We love Elain, and we want her to love Elain too, but I also think with the Valkyries coming in and all the groundwork she laid, that's what's exciting her right now. Bryce gave Nesta a sword and told her to find her destiny- like if that's not the biggest clue of where she's headed, idk what is.
I am trying to convince myself that maybe a background, Elorcan type adventure for elucien would be really fun! I hope they dress up to blend in with a circus too. That's so very them. But I'm bitter about it all too lmao
