It was a pretty snowy morning in the area where Finch lived. He woke up groggy, as Hacker insisted that they just had to get up early. Though, Finch would’ve rather slept in on his holidays off, he was still happy to see Hacker excited. (Even if he’d never admit it.) They had the house to themselves, as his roommate was off visiting family. In the kitchen, they chatted about their plans. “So, I have this day planned out nicely.” Hacker mentioned casually. “Oh?” Finch inquired. “Like what?” Hacker turned around from the coffee machine with a mischievous smile. “It’s a surprise.” He walked over and planted a small kiss on the shorter man’s face. “That’s…ominous. Now I’m worried.” Finch rolled his eyes, slightly playfully. “Ugh, you’re so mean.” Hacker replied with a face of fake offense. The coffee pot beeped, and Hacker walked over to pour them both cups. “So, do these activities include the outdoors?” Finch asked while taking a mug from Hacker and thanking him. “Well..yeah, but don’t think I’m giving any hints, alright?” Finch crossed his arms childishly and walked out of the kitchen. A ‘whatever’ being mumbled as he left.
Later, Hacker told Finch to bundle up. He grabbed his boyfriend’s hand and guided him outside. “Hacker, can’t you just tell me already..?” He sounded annoyed with Hacker’s antics. “No, now come on. It snowed pretty hard last night.” Hacker picked up a handful of snow and made into a ball. “Come on!! Let’s make a snowman.” The younger man motioned for Finch to come help. “Fine.” Finch joined him. Once again, rolling his eyes playfully, a smile creeping on his face. “Watch out!” The warning came from nowhere as snow smashed into Hacker’s arm. He shivered as he looked over to his smirking boyfriend. Finch stifled a laugh, “I said watch out.” He shrugged. “Oh, yeah? You really wanna play that game?” Hacker smiled mischievously as he gathered snow and threw it at Finch. Unfortunately for Hacker, he did not have the aim of a JD Captain. Finch watched the snowball fly over his head, finally letting out a laugh. “That was just terrible.” He shook his head, before getting hit right in the face with a snowball. It was Hacker’s turn to laugh when he looked at the shorter man’s face, all snowy and shocked. Finch quickly reached down for more snow, as Hacker did the same.
“I definitely won our snowball fight.” Finch said as he pulled off his boots. “What!? I hit you right in the face, that should count for twice the points.” Hacker argued back. Rolling his eyes, Finch disagreed, “You just got lucky. I mean, you could barely hit me, I landed way more shots than you.” Hacker smiled while taking off his winter jacket, “Okay fine. But I still have more things planned.” Finch looked down. “I don’t know Hacker, I’m pretty beat.” Hacker pulled Finch to the couch. Finch sighed. “I promise it’s not anything tiring, honey.” Hacker motioned Finch to sit. He did, waiting to see what his lover had planned. Hacker walked to the kitchen. “You are such a princess.” Finch shot him a look. “How many times do I have to tell you, don’t call me that.” Finch turned around to hide his slight blush. He refused to ever admit, especially to Hacker, how loved he felt when he was called sweet nicknames. Hacker grabbed a board and put Finch’s favorite snacks and some of his too. “Alright, I’m ready! Time for a movie night..” He walked to the coffee table and placed down the tray. “This looks nice.” Finch gave a small smile. “So, what movie are we watching?” The JD Captain asked. “Hmm, a classic of my childhood. ‘Mean Girls’” Hacker smirked. “Uh, alright. But it better not be one of your weird sci-fi movies.” Finch made a face of judgement. The taller one immediately defended himself. “Hey, those movies are amazing!” He pulled Finch closer, to cuddle. “Let’s just watch the movie.” Finch snuggled up closer to his partner.
Finch rubbed his eyes. “That was dramatic. Are teenagers these days really like that?!” Hacker smiled at his boyfriend’s question. “Well, yes and no. I’d say they’re not…get hit by a bus bad.” Finch huffed, wondering what’d it be like if he was a high schooler in today’s time. “Are you still too tired?” The blonde/brunette one asked. Finch looked down, “Only a little bit. Is there more stuff planned? It’s getting pretty late.” At this point, it was almost 9:30pm. Both had work tomorrow, and Finch was pretty big on getting a reasonable amount of sleep. “Just one more thing I promise. Can you put your jacket on?” Hacker made puppy eyes, and how could Finch say no to that?
“Ok, just let me go get it.” He headed towards the front closet to retrieve his snow jacket. Hacker zoomed to the Kitchen again and got milk and hot chocolate packets. He quickly assembled the drink, right when Finch came back with his jacket and boots. He let out a small yawn, almost ready to hit the hay. “Here you go, whipped cream and sprinkles for me and a candy cane for you. Just how we like it.” He kissed his lover on the forehead and motioned for him to follow. “Thank you. What are we doing again?” Finch inquired, only to be met with more ominous silence. They sat down on the swinging bench on Finch’s patio. Hacker laid his head on top on his beloved while taking a sip of his drink. “So, this new year is gonna be great..” Hacker said out of the blue. Finch raised his eyebrows at the comment. “How could you know..? I mean last year was..it was something.” Silence lingered between them. A lot had happened in the past year. Good things and bad things. It was hard, mentally and emotionally. “I’m just proud of us. We got through so much together.” The couple interlocked their free hands. “I can feel that it’ll be a better year. For you and me.” He took a sip of his hot chocolate once again. “Oh..” Finch looked down. “I hope so. That we’ll be blessed and happy.” He fidgeted with the candy cane in the mug. The sounds of the night could be heard. Crickets, the slight wind, the occasional car driving by. Hacker smiled, “Yeah...baby?” Finch looked up. “I love you so much..it’s almost unreal.” The shorter man couldn’t help but smile at that. “I love you too.” He said quietly. Finch wasn’t good at affection, but he always tried his best. He turned to give his boyfriend a kiss. “Thank you for an amazing day.” He truly enjoyed it. He felt appreciated in a way he’d never experienced before and Hacker always made it so easy for Finch to feel loved. “Of course sweetheart.” They stayed like that until they finished their drinks, then going back inside to get some much needed rest after an exhausting, but wonderful day. Hacker wanted Finch to take more days off of work, as he loved when they were able to have time together.
The End 💕 Happy Late Christmas and New Year. I tried to finish this earlier, but I got sick and then I just lost motivation. But I hope you enjoy <3
