media narrative about COVID starting in Wuhan (a foreign city) and accelerating in NYC (the boogeyman of US cities) leads to associating the virus with cities

contageon in general is associated with cities and not rural areas

which completely ignores that even rural areas now encourage high density congregations of people in big box stores and megachurches, never mind the strip malls of the suburbs, all of which means contageon actually spreads much more effectively here than it did in the past

BUT issues affecting large groups of people do not apply to white rural/suburban americans, because they are not a group. They are a non-group of Rugged Individuals with no racial identification who are exempt from group crises (oddly also somehow the majority)

Problems affecting Urban areas are not really problems worthy of investing resources to solve. Yes, even when people are dying. Especially when people are dying. 

Real Americans should not be affected by Urban Problems or have to accommodate them in any way, because inevitably it is Those People’s own fault

Real America does not have Those Problems because it is naturally superior

taking precautions against COVID would be admitting to something

it would put Real America on a level with A) The rest of the world and B) Urban America, something that the Trump era has encouraged them not to do

Unless they are forced to by law, white rural/suburban Americans are not going to take the necessary steps to save their own lives
