I want to preface this post with saying that I think the designer did a good job on the new Monster High dolls and my issue is with Marketing's pricing. Is it just me or are the prices on these Monster High the Shining dolls kind of steep? Maybe part of it is that they are a licensed merchandise and maybe if I was a fan of the movie (not into horror films) the price wouldn't bother me. The Cleo and Ghoulia set that was supposed to be an SDCC exclusive that ended up being sold on Mattel's site was $50. I personally don't see these as higher quality than the $50 set. I also imagine less production costs with these since there are two dolls that are identical with the exception of the eyebrows. However, the pre-orders sold out pretty quickly so apparently they are worth it to a lot of peole. Looks like we're getting some new budget dolls for the DC Superhero Girls line. How exciting! Not. CNET had a collection of 54 photos from Mattel's Toy Fair 2018 booth. I am very disappointed with this picture. How many more dolls with very limited articulation and molded on tank tops with cloth mini skirts is Mattel going to give us? The dolls on the left remind me of the most recent Ever After High Book Party dolls. Those were better than some of the other more EAH recent dolls but still pretty bland compared to what the line used to be. I'm not a fan of this trend of having patterns printed on fabric to make it look like a clothing piece is multiple layers. I'm very disappointed to see that Mattel is doing to DC Superhero Girls what it did to Monster High and Ever After High. CNET also has pictures of Barbie products, Enchantimals and the new Polly Pocket line.
