Saving Me

All along she thought she was captured Her wrists held down, a finger even fractured She was the flesh and blood of wanting to fit in; Of needing acceptance from within She spent her days waiting for the rain to come And cleanse her from the person she has become There were so many questions and too little answers Yet the truth she once believed in unfolds and uncovers She knows that she is more than her scars and sacrifices; That she’s full of twists and surprises She slowly sees that being afraid of drowning that you forget to swim Wouldn’t help even to her most desperate whims.
