@hilltopsown // saviors verse
Daryl picked up his crossbow, ready to head out to the Kingdom when Dwight walked in. “Change of plans. You guys will be going to the Hilltop. Don’t fuck around, Dixon.”
Daryl’s stomach flipped and his throat closed up. He had been dreading this for three months now.
Three months since he saw his family at Alexandria, three months since Negan killed Glenn and Abraham, three months since he kissed Jesus goodbye and said he’d be back soon.
Daryl had given in. He gave into Negan and Dwight, he had been broken, he was now a Savior. He had his crossbow back, his vest, his bike. He swallowed the lump in his throat and head out to his bike, following his men on the familiar path down to the Hilltop.
The gates opened immediately as they always seemed to do when Negan’s men arrived. Daryl felt the looks of his old companions staring at him in shock, but Daryl kept his eyes glued to the ground, crossbow in arms. There was one person he couldn’t see, no matter how badly he wanted to embrace his old lover in his arms, he knew he wouldn’t be able to live with himself once Paul finally knew about his betrayal.
