As we begin December and get closer to Christmas, we should remember why we celebrate this blessed holiday. Because Jesus was born of woman - the Word made flesh. John 1:14 says, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, 

We are blessed and forever free because of Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection. The Word of God walked among men and spread His message of hope and love. His Holy Spirit dwells among us to this day. When we accept Christ, and proclaim Him Lord of our lives, the Word then lives in us, as well. We are blessed and highly favored!

As we do our Christmas preparations, buy gifts for loved ones, and bake goodies to share, please remember that the most important thing for us to share is the Love of Christ that lives in us. My prayer is that we all remember this as we enjoy the holidays, and that we have opportunities to show God’s love in our communities, especially to people who haven’t heard the Good News.

The Magi called Jesus, 'King of the Jews,' the same title that hung over his head while he was crucified. You can’t see the manger without looking beyond to the cross. This title for Jesus bookends the gospel of Matthew because it remind us of Jesus' mission. He came to save his people from their sins and become Lord of their lives and reign in their hearts as King.
