revenge & repair

after everything that had happened, what matthias really needed was to come back and find his car absolutely wrecked. if the smashed windows and headlights as well as the scratched off paint were not enough to get him in a sour mood, than the noise that came from within the motor of his car was sure to leave him angry for a week.

winning cases was great what wasn’t great was when the part who was on the losing side decided to take revenge in the most cowardly ways. “is it possible to give me a date for when you think my car will be completely fixed?” he hated to seem impatient and he knew he couldn’t be, the mechanic had its work cut out for him, but god he really didn’t want to deal with someone driving him around for too long.

Hide Me If You Can || Closed

Claudette had arrived in Astoria past Friday and, after just a weekend of being hogged and overwhelmed by his mother, Caleb needed a break. Rather, he needed a place to hide that granted him a valid excuse for not being able to answer the phone or attend that wine and cheese event at the Country Club which she kept trying to drag him to so, the hospital was his best bet. No service, no phones allowed, an emergency, his cousin needed him. Anything would work, in his opinion, and the moment he left his office, he made sure to stop by the nearest Starbucks and bought himself and Sawyer coffee. If he was going to crash at the hospital, he might as well bring some goodies—even if he knew he wouldn’t be able to fool the doctor. She knew the drill all too well.

The attention was never unwelcomed. Some of the nurses and receptionist had slowly pooled around him by the main desk of the floor Sawyer was assigned to that day—he had asked before—, and though he risked the coffees from getting cold, he got slightly distracted with conversation. Laughing, even though it was mostly quiet all around them, until finally someone came shushing all the commotion and he decided that perhaps it was about time he went ahead and asked for Dr. Rathbone again before he finally saw her coming down the hall. “How many lives are we saving today, Doc?”

Sammie slid open the train compartment door, peering inside. “This seat taken?” He asked, nodding to the empty place beside the window. Not waiting for an answer, he threw himself down, dropping his luggage by his side.

The Best Friend || Sawder

10:00 P.M. Not one minute earlier. Not one minute late. Ryder just laughed in spite of himself because, really, he had no choice but to do as  he was told. He found it slightly humorous how he had been trying to get Oliver to introduce him to his sisters for the longest time and, now that he was actually going to meet one of them, it was under the most unexpected circumstances. He was marrying her best friend... he was marrying, period. 

Kingston Pub wasn’t too far away from his apartment. He decided to take the metro there instead of riding his bike to the meeting place because the weather was being unforgiving and he thought it was safer this way. Not that he really spent a lot of time picking out his outfit but, Ryder was careful in choosing his attire—not wanting to give the wrong impression. It had only been two days since he and Sam got engaged and, though he was still processing this, at least he didn’t feel as though he was sinking in a puddle of water anymore. Partly because Oliver, true, and partly because he had time now to think it through. Checking his watch and realizing he had arrived there earlier, he decided to kill some time and smoke a cigarette as it helped with the cold and the stress, and only walking through the doors on the clock, finding a spot by the bar quickly and exchanging a few words with the bartender he was already familiar with as he waited for the woman to arrive.

"Boar took your tarp?" "It was dark, but, yeah, pretty sure it was a boar." "I thought the boar had vacated this area." "Genius, I think we got some bad info." "What was he doing inside your tent?" "It was staring at me." "Then it came at me, so I hit it, and it ran off into the jungle." "With your tarp. Perhaps he wanted to go camping." "You enjoying yourself?" "Yes." "Well... laugh it up, Muhammed. But I come back and find my stuff's gone, I'm coming after you."
