Sorry for such a long “hiatus”, I found I have much less time to work on FossilClan during school hours (as having a phone out during class time is actually illegal here OTL), but things are still going, I promise!!

Haven’t... haven’t posted any of our Random Cats before, so no idea how much anyone would care? But here’s our most recent one that we’ve drawn, Hopstorm (along with her randomiser gene data from our Cat Randomiser. Sometimes it really just throws us a cat that makes our brain go brrr, and then we just have to draw them, don’t we.) She is trans and a creachure. Also why is it so hard to find photos of oriental medium/longhairs in good sitting positions, I basically gave up and referenced shorthairs for pose and then stared at photos of @pangur-and-grim‘s Pangur for a while in hopes I’d end up with a decent result on the fur lay. Did I succeed? Who knows! not me.

(A lot of time that I spend doing these is also spent going “how would wideband affect this aaaAAA” because most images of wideband cats are the high (Shaded? Tipped?) wideband black ticked tabbies (Golden British Shorthairs) or extreme (Chinchilla) wideband black tabby persians. I’ve found like, one image of a probably-medium wideband non-ticked black tabby. This doesn’t help me with what it does when it’s interacting with cinnamon tabby colouration, never mind this cinnamon+ticked tabby+mink colourpoint combo. So uh. I guessed something that I don’t think is accurate at all and screamed internally for a while) (she still looks classy even if we did mess up that point. We can just disregard the Wideband square anyway, it’s our generator and our cat design, we can do what we want.) (also I really need to figure out a good way to do ticked tabbies. Maybe I will make a new brush for it for myself or something?)

ScaleClan Applications Now Open

Reckless and wild, ScaleClan cats are vivacious, loyal, and competitive. Sharing their home with alligators and countless other predators, these cats are ready to defend each other at a moment’s notice… as such, they often get hurt, which has led to a culture celebrating scars and imperfections. Though their “make mistakes and learn from them” attitude might not suggest it, these cats are clever and highly spiritual, believing that below the earth within the cave they call home, they can walk amongst the spirits of their ancestors. 

 ScaleClan has come out of the storm to a time of peace, relatively speaking. The pythons which plagued their territory have reduced to a more manageable level, and compared to the other clans their hurricane preparations led to them losing the least amount of cats. But idleness leads the intrepid ScaleClan cats to question their circumstances. Who is marking within their border? Is StormClan planning something sinister, or are there unknown forces at play?

Clans of the Mire is a 16+ Discord-based Warrior Cats roleplay! Join the three clans: TideClan, the clever, adaptive cats of the coast, ScaleClan, the sturdy, agile cats of the gator-infested cypress swamps, and StormClan, the stubborn, stalwart cats of the abandoned twoleg place, as they struggle to coexist in the swamps of the southeastern US.

Whitescream, the same-litter younger sister of Heatherbrook. Despite their very different appearances, their genetics are actually an entirely possible diversity from a single pair of parents. The difference in the birth moon is also entirely possible, as it turns out- apparently cats can safely just... have some of their litter, and then just. turn off their labor for up to 24 hours, before resuming and giving birth to any remaining kittens as if nothing happened, if they want? Biology sure is wild, huh?

even if nobody actually cares I am going to actually try to keep posting some of these. because. I am very bad at actually posting things. So i gotta Try?

Heatherbrook was the cat I drew before Hopstorm. He’s non-binary They/He, and has a somatic mutation that turned off an O gene on his head as he developed, revealing the solid grey it obscures elsewhere. He’s an arteest.

Is this a strictly accurate way a somatic mutation could present in terms of position? I don’t know. It isn’t like there’s an evident wealth of images of cats with obvious somatic mutations around. I made a guess and that’s that.
