1, 12, and 14 // Questions About Creating Your OCs meme.
What was the first element of your OC that you remember considering (name, appearance, backstory, etc.)? It’s been so long since I created Elwyn, I have no idea! I think it was the concept of a non-binary/genderqueer witch combined with the imagery of soft ‘cottage witch’ and a LOT of knitted cardigans.
What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)? Consistency. I basically write for a living, and it requires me to bounce between worlds, characters and genres often - sometimes I get so in the headspace of another work or story that I can’t find muse for anything else. Not to mention, after writing all day? Sometimes coming home to write more is the last thing I want to do. But! I always come back to Elwyn, he’s one of the easiest characters to get back to because of the positivity and fun.
If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be? I said kindness and faith for this question already, but if I had to pick two other things? Probably crafting and his health - Elwyn is chronically ill, HoH, and mildly agoraphobic, and especially the last one severely impact how I can start threads, as they almost never take place outside of his comfort locations. He also spends most of his time making items for his shop or friends, and is a great crafter in a variety of areas, from knitting to baking and papermaking!
