No idea how people develop scent fetishes, if I went a day without showering and one of you took a whiff it would kill you.

disco elysium characters as candle scents
because immentally ill and i love sniffing things and disco elysium
HARRIER DU BOIS:
tropical grapefruit. hear me out on this one. it smells like disco, or a tleast, wha ta vague sense of disco smells like. its nice for awhile, but then it just starts to make your sinuses hurt. a very thin, well waxed wick that sometimes doesn't burn right.
JEAN VICQUEMARE: whiskey and tobacco or sea salt and tobacco. obviously bc of his habits. but like. also because its a very thick, present scent. you know it when you smell it, and fresh tobacco is very like. identifiable. uniquely (pleasantly) musky (a wood wick that makes you nervous with how much it crackles)
KIM KITSURAGI: something woody, maybe like. cypress. smoky, too, but like. vaguely. a little bit of citrus? or something flowery. something unique but quiet (a thick, well waxed thread wick. its too strong to be cut down to size without a pair of good scissors) TITUS HARDIE: ... saddle leather/saddle oil, teakwood and like. citrus. maybe pine instead of teakwood. something clear and rugged and yet like. sweet (another wood wicked one, but more relaxed) DORA (bear with me on this one. am not far enough into the game): something light. extremely light. blood orange and vanilla. (a thin, poorly waxed wick. not the fault of the company, but your fault. you tried cutting it with dull scissors and it didn't work.) CUNO: something that makes you say "why the fuck is that a candle." like. patchouli and eucalyptus. but its also a little bit of a guilty pleasure scent (the church candle wicks. terrible and cheap) CUNOESSE: very similar to cuno's except like. instead of eucalyptus its uhm... thyme. is that even a candle scent I am forgetting every character in disco elysium ever actually...
i will add to this later.

There’s a Herald of Slaanesh who is obsessed with scent who runs a interdimensional and inter-franchise candle store chain with storefronts all over, from cult cover operations to honest shops run by oblivious but well meaning candle makers, with customers from Lustria to Skavendom and Naggaroth to Nehekhara, from the highest orders of the Black Legion to Ultramar, from daemon worlds in the Eye to the palaces of Terra.
Favorite scents include “Primarch Pants,” “Holy Corpse Dust,” “Incense With Extra Incense,” “Ogre Tribe Feast: Day 5,” “Fear Itself,” “Spawning Pool,” “SMELLZ LIKE DAKKA,” “Phoenician’s Shampoo,” “Factorum Floor,” “Machine Fluid Cocktail,” “Ozone,” “Astartes Body Oil,” “Avelorn Flowers,” “Blood (offered in a variety of types and degrees of aging),” “Anti-Smell (for when you just need an escape from the sensory assault of your hopeless hive grind!),” and “Chanel No. 1184.5”

The only way you can get Holy Corpse Dust is by bribing the vacuum serfs with clearance high enough to get into the Emperor's throne room. The highly likely presence of Custodes in the room does often result in that particular line of candles containing flecks of gold and traces of body butter, but honestly it sort of just adds to the overarching olfactory experience.
With regards to the Emperor’s smell; I bet the Custodes and some high lords of terra secretly use cologne called “The Golden Throne” which smells like musty corpse dad and they’ve just convinced themselves this is a desirable thing
The Custodes have the immense privilege of being permitted to rub up against the emperor’s mouldering shins directly so as to obtain the purest and most wonderfully pungent form of this fragrance. People actively climax, weeping as they do so, upon catching the merest whiff of this near-divine olfactory sensation. Whether or not that’s due to their nervous systems seizing up in response to being exposed to such an ungodly smell is yet to be verified, however.
