˚୨୧⋆。🌧️ tips for anxious / neurodivergent regressors starting a new school year
✏️ pick cute stationery ( pens, pencils, notebooks, notepads ) that makes you happy ! choose things that you feel excited to use, and that may help you feel a little less overwhelmed or anxious when doing busywork or taking notes. I also love putting cute stickers on my binder and putting cute pins on my backpack.
📚 make task-lists and break down big jobs into smaller jobs. be sure to take little breaks to help you regain focus and avoid burnout.
🌼 spend time outdoors when the weather is nice! wether that's doing your homework on your balcony, choosing to sit outside for lunch, or taking a little walk when you get home, I find that spending time outdoors helps me feel better when I'm stressed with schoolwork. ( also, opening a window a little bit to let in the fresh air is really nice as well ! )
✏️ bring a small stuffed animal, toy or other comfort object with you to hold throughout the day ! if you feel worried about it, you can talk to your counselor about getting a note from the office saying that it's okay incase a teacher asks you about it. Also, if you're worried about being judged, you can always just keep them in your bag until you feel brave enough to have them out with you ( even though in my experience, no one really minds. ) 💛
📚 Put affirmations on the inner-cover of your notebooks, binders, laptop ( if it's a gentle adhesive ) or your planner to remind you how brave and awesome you are! some of my favorites are "your worth isn't determined by your grades" , "you are resilient against academic challenges" and the Winnie the Pooh sticker inside of my planner that says "you can do hard and scary things". ૮꒰ྀི∩´ ᵕ `∩꒱ྀིა
🌼 most importantly, don't be shy to ask for help, extra time on assignments and take advantage of disability recourses! you are not a burden or too much for being disabled or not being able to do things the way everyone else dose.
˚୨୧⋆。 also : I highly suggest getting a small to-do list pad and some slim folders to keep all of your assignments in. I also really love my clip-folio and use it every day hehe !
