I hc that Anaconda comes from a big working class Polish-American family.  She's the middle of five siblings, and her maternal grandparents and maternal aunt and uncle lived with them too. Her mother either died or left not long after the birth of her youngest brother. 

She was never a pretty girl, quite the opposite, and was bullied from any early age for her looks. She retaliated by becoming a bully herself, and used her large size to fight back against the verbal blows she received daily in school. She couldn't play the clever games of manipulative words and gossip that her peers did, but she could at least break their pretty little faces so they couldn't say anything else for their jaws being wired shut. She excelled at sports, but was repeatedly cut from teams for being too aggressive, as she used said sports to let out her frustration-- --which she had a LOT of.

// ouyang zizhen //

zizhen has the most aesthetically pleasing handwriting. he has all of his materials color coded (algebra is red, history is blue, english is green, and so on) and doodles calligraphy & drawings in a separate notebook (yes, a doodle book). he has a purple pen that he’s particularly attached to.

sometimes gets caught up drawing random stuff and accidentally skips class. art teacher’s favorite.

hates p.e. with a passion because the teacher has it out for him. 

favorite subject is english, because he likes writing/reading romantic stories. it’s also his best subject, excluding art.

took mandarin because advantage.

jingyi has earbuds in most of the time, and gets scolded by Teacher Qiren for it constantly. 

his handwriting is messy, but not illegible.

grades are pretty good (all of the juniors’ are, since sizhui forces them to have a study group at least once a week). likes p.e. decently enough.

absolutely despises math, but likes science cause the teacher is chill.

fav subject is science, but his best is tied science and 

pretty popular at school, and has quite a lot of acquaintances/friends. has gotten confessed to multiple times but usually lets them down softly.

not great at art, but pretty good at picking up languages. chose french because he thought it would be fun.

plays a couple sports casually (baseball, soccer) and even got onto the baseball team. only did it for a year though.

hates the cafeteria lunch. sometimes he makes lotus rib soup (his mother taught him) and brings that to school instead. 

doesn’t like p.e. solely because the teacher is mean to zizhen.

didn’t talk to anyone but zizhen until the lans forced themselves into their lives. not because he’s shy but because he doesn’t want people to get roped in with his mess with jin chan (zizhen, knowing that, still sat with him on that first fateful day) and because he doesn’t want people to use/know about his uncle’s company for fear of them using him. and because he had never made a friend before zizhen, so he has little experience with friendship.

dislikes art, but isn’t horrible at it. handwriting is

utterly destroys the archery club.

all of his grades are around the same level (a combo sizhui and fear of jiu jiu make them pretty high), but his favorite subject is definitely 

accidentally got put into french but ended up loving it. occasionally converses with jingyi in french.

doesn’t like cursive. uses print, has surprisingly nice handwriting.

secretly hates math, but doesn’t say anything so that the others’ don’t tease him & cause lan qiren teaches it. zizhen has suspicions but doesn’t say anything.

has perfect grades and does the extra credit anyways. doesn’t complain if he ever gets below a 90, but will study harder for the next test in that subject. diligent as always.

doesn’t actually like school, but again doesn’t really say anything about it. he has skipped before, and wei wuxian was very proud. 

the main reason he goes to school is cause it’s an excuse to see his friends everyday. he usually only skips classes his friends aren’t in, but never gets in trouble for it because teachers are biased & he’s that good.

best subjects are history and math, favorite is probably history because he has pretty good memory.

has grandma handwriting. the really neat cursive kind that kids can’t read if they don’t know cursive.

tag yourselves: w101 school edition

(I’m almost 100% sure someone has done this before, but this is just my interpretation of it. If you don’t know what a ‘tag yourself’ is, it’s like ‘aesthetics’ for each of the schools or feelings/things they would do/have.)

FIRE: being perfectly warm under your covers when it’s cold outside. the noise a match makes when it lights. sparklers. fireworks. light streaming through the windows in the morning. lighting a car on fire in anger. huge candles everywhere. being overexcited about flames. the sun. golden hour. waiting for someone to crack. striving for excellence. always being warm. touching the cool glass. barbecues. being passionate. always energetic, like you’re drawing energy from the sun itself. forcing yourself to calm down/give up because it goes against your nature. 

ICE: flipping your pillow over to get the cool side. being able to take an intense amount of insults without snapping. having cold skin. never getting cold in the winter. staying calm and collected before snapping and hitting someone on the face. defending your friends. having the ability to diffuse any damage towards you. fresh morning air and the bright white snow. waking up too early when it’s still dark outside. keeping beautiful flowers and different shades of pale pastel colours. ice cream in winter. being able to manage a busy schedule.

STORM: bragging about test scores. asking everyone else, ‘what did you get?’. hair that gleams perfectly in the afternoon light. being able to hear the buzz of fluorescent lights when someone turns it on. somehow fixing every single technical problem. typing quickly. narrowed eyes and shallow breathing. knowing how to hide in a lot of different ways. flicking lights on and off. groaning loudly when the power goes off, and not wanting to have to deal with it. never having to deal with the insurance companies. always remembering to charge your phone. knowing your way around every website. liking the rain. being fascinated by lightning. 

MYTH: greek mythology. roman mythology. egyptian mythology. every kind of lore that exists sitting on your bookshelf. keeping more than one clock in your room. baking cakes at 3 am. two necklaces, one with a lock and one with a key. keeping your own secrets. asking precise questions. stopped clocks. golden watches you check all the time. always knowing the answer, as long as you’ve paid attention. rationalizing. having favors you can always call on. being able to hold your own, but working better with another person. imagination.

LIFE: healing quickly. liking sciences. looking out towards the sky and getting distracted when you’re working. cracking your neck when you wake up. blinking either too much or not enough. peeling a bandaid back. knowing the difference between soft tissues and soft tissues. being the mom friend. trusting people easily. breaking off pieces of soft cakes with your fingers. hiding underneath too many blankets. laughter. dragging people out at 2am to look at the stars. knowing how beautiful people are inside. crying secretly and quietly and wiping the tears away. always smiling.

DEATH: a weird fascination with graveyards. moths over butterflies. understanding when someone passes. feeling grief but also knowing they’re in a better place. having an appreciation for how short your life is. black and white. photography during an inconvenient time. closing the curtains when you take a nap. dark themes and photos, but still upbeat. keeping to yourself and a small group of friends. finding it difficult to trust people. fantasy and horror novels. black timberlands. defying stereotypes. smiling when people smile. antisocial social club.

BALANCE: slants and straight lines. being the hype person for other people. looking upwards thoughtfully. being able to read something once and remember it. waiting till someone proves themselves trustworthy to tell them anything. trying to find public wifi before remembering you have data. hourglasses. subtle smiles. symmetrical drawings. dark chocolate. appreciating the law, but also struggling to care about it. biting your lip for no reason. a slight tan. lots of colours toned down slightly. listening to soundtracks instead of lyrical songs. real, achievable expectations for others, but high goals for yourself. being afraid of your own power. fearing failure.
