This scarf matched the skirt a lot better when I was putting this outfit together in a dimly lit room late the night before I wore it.

This ~rustic blue door~ has been hiding out back behind the barn and I totally forgot it was there!  It was a perfect background for this outfit.

I’m finally teaching again!  I took a fairly long break, not just because I was moving but also because I was setting up all the components of a desktop computer.  I bought the computer a while ago, off a friend, but I didn’t have any of the other parts.  Now that I’ve got it set up (on a desk I made myself, which still needs some work) it’s back to brightly-colored shirts almost all the time!

Oh and if you were wondering why I haven’t been using my cane, it’s mostly because it’s too cold to walk around without both hands in my pockets for any length of time.  Even with gloves.  I only used it on this day because I was going to a new doctor and wanted to signal right off the bat that I’m disabled.

And my hair’s re-dyed!  It’s a bit hard to tell, but it’s a different brand that goes on a lot less red-orange than before.  There were some formulation problems with the brand my hairdresser was using before--if you look closely at the outfit photos before this, you may see a weird line of pigment a few inches out from my roots--so she switched to a different one.  (I think the line is pretty noticeable in this post.)  It also doesn’t stain my scalp, which I am very grateful for.  She mixed a fair bit of yellow in, since she knows I hate those first two weeks where my hair basically looks red, but that may not have been necessary.  I’m a little worried that it’ll fade to look like I tried to bleach my hair myself and got that bronze-y color, but we’ll see.  She told me to come back soon anyway to see if we could fix that weird line from the old dye anyway, so if there are problems I should be able to deal with them pretty quickly.

I am Distraught by wind chill.

4. Make a formal piece into a casual outfit

Okay, here’s a better photo of my hair!  So yeah, I’ve been planning on dyeing it orange for quite a while.  Yet in all that time, I somehow managed to forget that my camera has a really hard time with the color orange, especially with more reddish oranges, and I often have to do a lot of editing to get the color to come out right.  So when I get this re-dyed I think I’m gonna ask her to put more yellow in.  It came out alright in this photo--this is pretty close to the actual color--but in the last one it’s a bit too red and saturated, which is exactly what my camera normally does.

Anyway, this is my “I won NaNoWriMo!” outfit--I went and celebrated that night with some of the other local people who did it.  We went from 8 pm to almost 1 am, so I felt awful the next day and my physical therapist worried at me, but it was worth it.  I really didn’t know if I was gonna be able to finish this year.

And yeah, that’s my red velvet cocktail dress serving as a skirt, thus filling prompt #4 of the 20 Day Disability Style Challenge!  I only have one left, but that’s the one that takes the most time and energy...

This dress is so much fun.  I almost brought it with me on study abroad--after all, it’s made of sheer lightweight fabric so it packs up pretty small--but I decided I don’t wear it too often and a floor-length hem is a bit impractical for a city.  It’s see-through, which can make it hard to style, but my wardrobe is built on layers anyway.  And that means that it’s pretty comfy to wear in the summer with something light under it (see outfit one, which I wore sitting in the sun for a long time) even though it’s dark and floor-length.  I really hope I can play with it more when I get home!
