I'm new at it , I'm also not a morning person , but we're totally getting there ... Did I mention we're almost finished with our first term of school EVER ?!! Hello , time flies when you're having fun !! It's a bit of a new world this school mum thing , especially when you don't know any other kids or their parents who attend the same school . I love that my boys get to go to the same school my brother & I went too ! I love seeing teachers who taught us & still teach there today ! It's all rather cool and nostalgic , but this time round I'm on the ride for my babies & not me . growing up my parents both worked full time jobs , they still do ... So having a parent at sports days or accompanying us on a class excursion , or even being picked up from school were rather rare occurrences for my brother and I . So to be here , present day ... Blessed with the opportunity to be able to stay at home & look after our babies , I love that I can be there (usually a half an hour earlier , cause hello I get a better park & where else would I be) for school pick ups + harmony day ... and all the other special days to come (like the Easter parade coming up , HELLO !!) . But there's a part of this school mum gig that makes me feel like maybe I am at school ... It's that connection , to other mums thing . It made me wonder , how did I make friends when I was at school ... How do people make friends now? I've been raising babies for five years , I have no idea how this works out of a five years olds concept . But I have met a few mums , who are all lovely + have kids who share the same class as both the boys (don't ask me for all their names , that's a work in progress) . The other day whilst waiting for Pharrell at his first ever school disco (SO CUTE) , I started chatting with a mum who I'd always just said hi to in passing (her adorable daughter used to sit next to Pharrell) ... & what a small world it was . Turns out her younger brother was in my class when I attended the same primary school our babies go to now & she had also started attending church where we go too! HELLO !! we obviously talked about more than that , but it was so lovely to take a moment & connect with another mum . Sure I didn't offer her a bff school mum edition bracelet or anything , although my inner school girl would have probably attempted ha ... But it felt like a real step into creating my own little school mum friend circle . There's nothing more I'd love than to be able to make real connections with people , to be able to lend a hand to another mamma if she ever needed one ... Whether it be to pick up her baby cause she can't make it or someone to come along side and do life with & have some coffee with post school drop offs . To be inspired by other mamma's, to help uplift other mamma's , & hey if my journey can help them too ... Even better !! Isn't that what we all want ? To do life with others , in a real authentic way ... Life's too short to do life alone , when was the last time you stepped out of your comfort zone & made conversation to make a new friend? I'm certain there's so much your life & your journey could offer someone else ... don't keep all that gold to yourself !! ✌🏽🌴 -- C .xo
