I think everyone should take a second to remember that you an animal, you are a part of your local ecosystem, maybe take some time to learn about it, what other animals live there with you, what plants live there with you, what type of ecosystem it is and how that affects things, what it was like in the past before industrial society came around, who lived there then and how were they a part of the ecosystem, just take some time to truly acknowledge that you an animal on the planet earth and learn a bit about what that means

🚨🚨🚨HELP IS URGENTLY NEEDED PLEASE DO NOT SCROLL🚨🚨🚨
My mutual Safaa ( @sfaamq10) needs 50 dollars to help seek treatment for her son who has currently fallen and hit his head and is sick as a result. If 5 people could send 10 to her paypal or chuffed link provided it could really help her. Or if 10 people send 5 dollars. Maybe one really generous person can send 50. If you have something to share it is much appreciated

Incredible moments in evolutionary history, our biodiversity bombshell, where some soft-bodied blob was like . . . I am going to go take a bite out of that other fool.

A lot of the material I read is in the form of short, self-contained papers (i.e. like physics papers), but I read some larger-scale (and usually, more "preliminary") preprints, which I like a lot better than the papers they're based on, since the papers themselves usually aren't that interesting
The preprints have all this raw material, unpacked out of the papers that contain it, and you can read them like raw chunks of meat, instead of diced meat that has been shaped into a specific "scientific result"
oh yeah if any of you are wondering where the fuck my banner is from it’s from this weird interactive flash... activity, that my 8th grade science class played during our genetics unit called Lick Your Rats where your cursor becomes a rat and you have to “lick” a baby rat and see how that affects its epigenetics and if you do it well the narrator goes “wow! you’re an attentive rat mother!” and it’s so. it’s so
unfortunately the game itself died when Flash died but you can still look and learn something if you want hjkdsbk https://learn.genetics.utah.edu/content/epigenetics/rats/
