cas is a marine biologist and cas takes his boyfriend dean night snorkeling.

 the water at night is really quiet and serene and a tiny bit eerie and just scary enough that you wanna be close to someone. cas would be enamored by the bioluminescent plankton and tell dean little stories about all the little creatures they pass.

dean’s a little scared because he’s never spent much time in the ocean. they’re holding hands as they swim and point out the lobsters and fish and sharks to each other. 

afterwards they quietly sit on the rocks or the dock and make out with nothing but the soft waves lapping.

Oh no wait I can see this, oh my Chuck  Like someone walks in the lab and Cas just kinda stares at the aquariums with a really weird ( hostile as fuck) expression and the other scientist is just like ‘what, are the results off again??’ but Cas is like  “no, I just don’t like them,” while narrowing his eyes.

okay but where are all the science nerds geologist!cas and astrophysicist!dean aus? just like endless pages of dean and cas being utter fucking nerds debating string theory alongside the finer points of the carbon cycle. going on dates where they're laid out on a blanket looking at the stars not because it's romantic, but because they're naming constellations and looking through the university's $10,000 telescope. eating in the cafeteria and arguing about NASA's upcoming mission to mars. complaining about the fact that their 101 students are not excited about mechanics or earth system science. dean's first gift to cas being a meteorite pendant. cas's first gift to dean being one of those cheesy deeds to a star. just like, dean and cas being super nerdy and watching planet earth and stephen hawking documentaries in their spare time and being total freaking science nerds.

HC #10 Lifeguard!Dean, Oceanographer!Cas

Cas, anti-social and a bit grumpy, is researching the maritime life forms of the Atlantic shores for ten years now, so he absolutely does not consider even for a moment that something stupid like a storm could surprise him. Fortunately for him, Dean Winchester, the ridiculously handsome guy he keeps seeing around the shore on most days, risks his own life to save Cas. The sea is so angry that they can't hope to reach the shore, but the current soon brings them to a small island. When the island even has a cave with a hot spring in it, Cas starts to believe that God is heavily implying something.

HC # 8 Ornithologist!Cas and Ranger!Dean

Cas is looking for a special bird - it's so rare and interesting that he has dedicated his promotion to it. To finish his degree, he needs to gather some real-life data from the bird itself, though. Cas finds that this is easier said than done - his bird only lives in a wild park far up north of the country, in rough terrain that is surrounded almost completely by mountains.

The only person who could possibly help him set up camp up there and maybe provide a shower and some electricity now and then is a certain Dean Winchester, the park ranger. Rumor has it though that he is not the most warm-hearted of fellows.

Dean leads a secluded life, high up in the mountains where he's the only human being in a twenty mile radius. His only job is it to keep the wild park free of poachers and other trouble, and he loves the simplicity of what he has build for himself.

He's surprised and unamused when some scientist dude looking for an almost extinct bird contacts him one day, requesting his help. Dean would have said no, except that his boss is of the opinion that this shit is included in his job description. "Supporting scientific research, my ass."

A Eureka!Destiel AU

Where Dean is a Federal Marshal and he stumbles across this town hidden in the middle of the mountains while on a roadtrip with his brother to take him to Stanford.

They get stranded when Baby gets wrecked in a crash and start exploring the quirky little mountain town. Dean makes friends with a little girl, Claire Novak, autistic and quiet, but who talks to him shyly and sweetly and spouts off random math equations.

This leads to him meeting her father, Castiel, the town librarian, who seems to also be extremely well versed in Quantum Physics and military procedures.

Dean and Sam get caught up in disappearing people and strange flashing lights and discover everyone in town are completely intelligent and working as government scientists. 

Dean realizes that the only one who knows how to fix the equation is Claire and is the only one who believes she can do it, and she does, because the new guy is nice and cute and doesn't treat her differently.

And when the old sheriff, Bobby Singer, gets paralyzed in the resulting blast, Dean is brought on to take his place while Sam decides to stick around to try and learn more about the anti-gravity machine the mechanic is working on (it has nothing to do with his cute assistant, Jessica, shut up).

Maybe Dean spends a lot of time at the library between cases, so what?
