mercury: thoughts and feelings
every sign in mercury has the ability to make you feel and think a certain way. mercury is the planet that rules over communication, the mind and intellect and every form of transportation. of course when you think of mercury you don't associate feelings but how you think very much has to do with how you feel. if you think a certain way, feelings will arise with those thoughts. the two are tied to each other and some may argue that feelings come before thoughts. however maybe because I have a virgo stellium, I like to think that the thought comes before the feeling. in my eyes it goes, 'I think, therefore I feel". so really this statement would differ from different energies . I would say air and earth are very much the thinking before feeling type, while water and fire are the feeling before thinking type. air (gemini, libra, aquarius) and earth (taurus, virgo, capricorn) think through reason and logic. while water (cancer, scorpio, pisces) and fire (aries, leo, sagittarius) use feelings to navigate their thoughts. neither is above the other, just different.
mercury in aries: is the type to feel before they think and they do it in the most obvious way. no other sign is better than just blurting out whatever comes to mind, better than aries. there is no time to think really. aries is fast in action, and in thought. feeling come before the thought.
mercury in taurus: taurus is slow in action and in thought. they think things throughly before taking action. everything is slow because through stillness you can think more efficiently. so you will never catch a taurus acting on emotion.
mercury in gemini: gemini is an air sign and mercury ruled, so they're always thinking. however contrary to popular belief they aren't scatterbrained. gemini is known as thinking of two things at once. but they do it on a professional level. they know how to retain all that information and somehow make sense of it. that is why this placement is strong in thinking before taking action. gemini might act clueless but in reality are very calculated.
mercury in cancer: now this is a placement who lives in emotions. in reality their emotions protect them. cancer is water and water lives in the waters of emotion. everything they think of is because an emotion arose and through that emotion they ended up thinking a certain way.
mercury in leo: leo is fire and fire reacts. fire ignites and doesn't stop because of a silly thought. leo is fixed fire and that is the heart of your soul. once you feel something, nothing can stop you. thoughts come second once a leo feels a way.
mercury in virgo: now virgo is the other sign ruled by mercury. so this energy is always in thought. to think is like breathing. do emotions even exist for a virgo? that's the question we should ask because a virgo will think rather than feel. thinking makes sense but emotions are another thing altogether.
mercury in libra: libra is an air sign so they hope thought is logical. emotions complicate things. balance comes by taking everything through logic, not emotions. that's the reason Libras make good lawyers because they are able to help their client regardless of how they might feel about the case they think logically, not emotionally.
mercury in scorpio: now scorpio is tricky one because their emotions run deep. but at the same time they tend to think about things just the same way. but with scorpio being a water sign emotions rule the mind. mercury in scorpio is the type to commit a passion of crime. because although they think alot, emotions can overcome that logic.
mercury in sagittarius: now sagittarius is sign who does what they feel at all costs. life is too short to think about things that won't matter in a year. this is a sign who wants to think joyfully, almost at a cost to reality. not to say their head is up in the clouds but they would rather think and feel happy, than looking at reality.
mercury in capricorn: now this is a sign who only thinks in logic. they think everything through, that you would almost think they are ruled by mercury. but no the cautious sign of capricorn is saturn ruled. saturn is slow and steady and veryyyyy calculated. feelings are there but very closed off thinking is very much based in logic.
mercury in aquarius: another sign ruled by saturn. aquarius is an air sign so information that is accurate is important. this is a sign who also has troubles with emotions. so thinking logically rather than emotionally comes more natural for them.
mercury in pisces: pisces is mutable water. so mutable is changeability and water is emotions. so this makes an energy that changes with the tides. in other words because their emotions are so changeable it's hard to think in one way because their emotions are getting in the way. once their feelings change so does how they think also change.
