This is going to be a long post but I hope one wortwhile to read. Today is the third anniversary for my diagnosis with Stage II Colorectal Cancer, a very negative and scary moment of my life. Nevertheless, in a sweeter note is also the anniversary of many positive milestones for me: • 3rd of the day I decided to advocate for myself and fight for my life. • 3rd of the day my friends showed me that no one fights alone just by been next to me every step of the way. • 3rd of the day I got some extra time to live and do something positive with it • 3rd of been a none evidence of disease patient, • 2nd since I moved out of Florida to pursue my dreams of living New York (or close enough) • 1st since I made the decision to find a positive purpose in this experience and become an advocate for me and my fellow survivors. To celebrate this special day I have a couple of things to ask to whoever is reading this and feels like want to support me on fighting a disease that is the second cause of cancer related deaths in the USA: • Donate to my online fundraiser to support Fight Colorectal Cancer efforts on research, education and awareness https://give.fightcrc.org/fundraiser/1806759 • Sign the online petition that will tell legislators that is time for everyone to have access CRC screening without any financial burden, to sign just go to getbehindacure.org , it will help many of the over 30 million people that still need to be screened for colorectal cancer. • Listen or share this month’s Taboo-ty Podcast in which I share my story advocating for my very own screening and access to treatment. You can find it on https://fightcolorectalcancer.org/fight/library/march-2019-advocating-for-crc-screening-podcast/ • If after all of the above you still feel like you want to keep supporting our fight, please take a #selfie and post it with the hashtag #strongarmselfie for each photo, Fight Colorectal Cancer will receive a dollar to continue supporting our community in areas such as patient education, advocacy and research.
