I'm gonna count the Reddit AMA as canon, because to me this is the core of Bill's characterization and I refer back to it all the time:

Just found your blog and I’m fascinated by Mina (for 100 different reasons) and would love to know everything about her

HIIII and THANK YOU!!!! Well, I will say I can't tell you EVERYTHING about her (mostly because I still have to. Write out her and Bill's backstorys for the fic I am currently writing and will be eventually posting, and even then it'll be ages before I reach that chapter) BUT I can tell you a little about her~!

First of all, she's Bill's older twin sibling (the sister part comes later down the line), and their names back in their home dimension were Triangle 56 and Triangle 57. Named for the order they were born in on that specific day, and how many triangles had come before them.

Because Mina was born first, she was clearly more favored by their parents. Both kids were probably favored when they were younger, but as they got older, Mina was a lot more reserved, quiet and obedient. And Bill was...well, Bill. Resistant to anything that didn't make sense, always questioning why they had to follow the rules that they did.

Basically just being a regular kid who dared to not do as he was told when he was told.

And in a society like theirs (one dedicated to staying in line, being obedient, etc) that is probably one of the most looked-down upon behaviors imaginable.

ANYWAY all that to say that if Bill is that loud, angry neurodivergent kid who fought tooth and nail against an unfair system, Mina was the quiet, unconfrontational neurodivergent kid who was terrified of breaking the rules because of the consequences that would come with it.

But with a brother like Bill, she does have her moments of sneaking off with him to get into mischief and trouble. He'd always take the blame for the idea, of course. Better their folks yell at him than her.

They were joined at the hip (sometimes literally; they sleep with their sides pressed against each other) for so much of their life, until they weren't.

The rest of their backstory still needs some smoothing out (what her relationship is with the Axolotl, their eventual falling out, where she's been during the events of the show, etc), but other than that, she's a sweetie who has been VERY lonely for a very long time.

She's also (quite literally) a trans girl, because while her gender in the second dimension was 'triangle', she realizes early on that 'triangle' doesn't quite feel right on her. Even if she's not sure what DOES feel right at the time. But eventually, she comes to realizes that what DOES feel right is the label of 'human girl!' She wants to be a human girl so bad! Her little bow gives her gender euphoria because it makes her look cute and human girls are cute!

Outside of that, she's a big fan of things like stars and ballet and other really pretty things that she often sees in people's dreams. Oh yeah, she might end up having somewhat similar powers to Bill but she's not as skilled or experienced at using them as he is.

She is probably what the kids call a 'Mary Sue' of sorts, and I love her so so much. My precious little star daughter <3

Oh I already went through all the mini series and the shorts (except the ones for the 2D show because I want to get through season one first before checking those out lol) and I’m adoring the 2D series rn 😭🩷
