Scar is a model for me. Every time he speaks, it makes me want to have as much repartee as him. I have a shy nature and at school people take this opportunity to make fun of me because they knew I would not dare to answer. Now I use more and more sarcasm. He really has charisma and being like him would be an honor.

Just jumping back to the slime rancher AU, but what is the tarr sickness like? Like, he's got the fever obviously, and some muscular weakness if he can't get out of bed to exercise, but is there more to it?

And would be weird in that universe in that he actually survived?

i don't have any real-world sicknesses to compare it to that i Know of, but generally yes, tarr sickness comes with a high fever and fatigue, physical weakness, and a lot of brain fog, among other things.

it physically feels pretty close to a severe burn—wars is actually quite fortunate that he was either asleep or too out of it to feel it for those first few weeks, otherwise he would've been in a lot of pain that not a lot of medicines can soothe. it hurts to move too much and Anything touching the wounds hurts too, so even if he does have enough energy and strength, he's usually kept in bed by the pain

the others definitely notice that it fucked with his head a little bit—the burns might not have reached super deep, but the magic from the tarr Did, and that shit fucks with ur head in ways that hasn't even been studied yet. after he's finally alert enough to hold convos, he's forgetful and tired and slurs his words a lot. there are a couple of instances where he forgot what he was talking about in the middle of a sentence, and the others had to gently coach him back to the topic

luckily, a lot of that goes away later in the recovery process, and most of his issues stem from bad pain days. the crew lets him take it easy those days, wars staying inside or sitting on the porch and laughing with legend about this n that

and for that last question, i think he's probably pretty lucky. it's not Unheard of for a rancher to survive a tarr attack, but Most tarr attacks end in at least something or someone getting killed. there have been survivors, but most of those attacks were not nearly as big or as severe as wars'—most of them didn't involve a whole group of tarr, and most of them didn't leave such big scars behind

it was bad enough to where the possibility of wars dying in bed was a real and genuine worry for the entire crew for weeks. he's very happy and lucky to be alive

Just thinking about the Slime Rancher AU. Just thinking about Ledge taking care of Wars while he's recovering because he's super worried about him. Maybe there's some guilt for not being with Wars the entire time?

oh 100%. the entire family is constantly there for wars and taking care of him while he's bedridden, but legend almost never leaves his side. even when wars is in and out from illness at first and only able to form basic syllables, legend is There and playing with his hair and shushing him and telling him everything will be alright

in the quiet hours of the night when everybody else is asleep and legend is left to listen to wars' shallow breaths and the hum of electronics inside the walls, he ends up spiraling a lot. going over the incident again and again, regretting straying from wars for even a second, thinking about how wars was nearly killed and could Still die in his sleep just because legend saw some moondew nectar in the distance that hadn't rotted yet. at some point when wars is awake legend apologizes to him, but wars just stares at him through the haze of fever and doesn't understand a fucking word and legend has to leave the room for a minute to keep from crying

they all lose sleep over the incident, but legend and fig are the ones who lose the most. fig gets up in the middle of the night a lot to see legend still awake, watching wars' chest rise n fall and massaging the unscarred skin around his hands. fig Knows it's not gonna convince ledge to go to sleep anytime soon, so he usually sits with him and lets him cry if he needs to. fig can See the guilt in his eyes and he's told him time and time again it was not his fault, but legend doesn't seem to believe him

i think legend prolly formally apologizes to wars again, when he's no longer bedridden and instead able to at least walk outside a bit. wars looks at him like he's got two heads when he says it, like it's crazy, like it's nuts, and wars tells him he has never once even thought of pinning the blame on legend. because it wasn't his fault. wars is just grateful that legend came to save him so quickly, he says, and he says it with a big smile that shoves that big rainbow scar to the side

this is based on the new song of the sabers update for sr2 !

i think legend would Love the saber slimes and all of them would absolutely adore the scenery there. ledge wouldn't like the cold too much since it makes his bones ache, so he and fig (who also has achy bones) like to hang out in the big cave with those giant heat flowers ! warms ya right up :) they love to sit as close to the petals as they dare and play with the slimes

wars Loves the aurora trees. he's fuckin obsessed w them and the aurora bridges, and he and lumen like to dart between islands and test how much weight they can hold (they have yet to break them)

briar loves the trees there and likes to collect sun sap and keep tarr away from the slimes while he strolls :] he also loves starting snowball fights w the slimes And the others. he thinks wars getting pelted w snowballs from eight different angles is hilarious

consider . wars and ledge lying underneath an aurora tree, looking up at the stars and watching how light from the "leaves" distorts the colors. legend draws in the snow and wars holds a perfect snowflake orb in his hands so legend can try to use it as a reference. they stay out there until the sun comes up and when the aurora bridges start flashing like they're about to disappear the calmness of the moment breaks and they giggle while scrambling over each other to make it to the bridges before they dissipate for the day . i lovethem so much

(bit of a warning for ?? gore i suppose? and getting like . eaten alive i guess)

in my sr au tarr slimes r a lot more dangerous ? the tarr they're made of is alive in the sense that it actively seeks out life to eat away at it. as soon as it comes into contact with anything organic, it starts breaking it down so that it can multiply itself and keep going (in the games they rot any crops in their vicinity, so this is just That but on a larger scale)

in the game u can kill a tarr slime by shooting water at it from ur vacpack (the big gun ur character carries). in my au, that's still doable, it's just harder to get rid of it All and tarr r more aggressive and agile in general

getting bitten by a tarr slime is considered Very Bad by ranchers, and many many ranchers have died from it. if u don't Immediately treat a bite by dousing it in water, the tarr will eat away at the skin and continue until there is nothing left. people who die from tarr outbreaks are not buried because there is not a body To bury—every last bit of it was eaten away and converted into more tarr

it's very important for ranchers to have a full tank of water in their vacpack literally all the time, but if there's a lot of tarr outbreaks in a day, it's very easy to not notice when ur running low since ur constantly focused on killing tarr

that's how wars gets attacked </3 he runs out of water at some point and doesn't realize, so when a group of tarr come for him and he aims to fire, nothing comes out and he only has a second to think about how bad that is before one pounces

the tarr scars follow the same areas as my normal wars' burn scars do, so they start at his cheek, down his shoulder to his arm, along his side, and in some patches on his legs.

one nicks him in the face and that's all that's needed for him to start screaming—he's being eaten alive, after all. i forgot to include these bc i didn't rly think abt it at the time of drawing him, but he'd unfortunately also have tarr scars along his fingers and palms; his hands instantly come up to his face when he's nicked, and the tarr gets on his hands and starts eating Them and . yeah

he falls over, his face feeling like it's raw and on fire, and the tarr slimes have a feast. they bite at his arm and his side and his legs kicks out at them only to get tarr there too. he's screams until he loses his voice and his yells turn cracked and horrifying, and u can only imagine how terrifying of a sound that is to legend

legend is on the other side of starlight stand when he hears it—it carries across the entire island, and he has never felt his heart shoot up into his throat so quickly. he runs as fast as his legs can carry him, jetpack aiding in propulsion, and when he sees wars writhing on the ground, vacpack left on the ground empty of water and a mob of tarr clawing at him, ledge wants to vomit

ledge has water in his tank, and uses All of it to kill the tarr. he feels terrible simply shooting wars w water while he's still writhing and clawing at his own skin, but water is the only way to get rid of tarr and there's still shiny blackness feeding on his flesh

if legend had not been there, wars 100% would've died. wars is half-conscious by the end of it, in too much pain to rly think clearly about anything, and moving hurts so ledge has to drag him to the nearest teleporter. he carries wars back home to their conservatory where the others immediately panic and tend to him

it's a very long recovery, the type of injury that takes years to Fully recover from, and the chemicals in the tarr make wars very sick afterward. he's definitely bedridden for a long time, not just from horrible sickness but bc of the unbearable pain that comes with moving even a little, but eventually he's able to sit up and carry a conversation when the delirium ebbs

eventually, he's able to go outside again. the most he's able to do is (slowly) tend to the passive slimes on their ranch and feed them, but he tires easily and has to rest a lot. it's slow, and some days his scars hurt more than others, but once they're all healed properly, he's able to explore again

on the plus side, wars thinks his scars look Fucking Sick /pos GVEAYGV the tarr left his skin charred and blackened, but there's rainbow swirls that change colors in the sunlight and he thinks that's fucking awesome <3 that whole thing sucked but ! he likes to be positive

their buddy system that they had going is enforced strongly after that—fig makes everybody explore with a partner and Never separate from them, even for a moment. he almost lost one of his sons, and he's not letting any of them go through that again

ive never played slime rancher and was wondering what the little glowy shapes were on the pouches of your drawing? (absolutely love it btw. so huggable looking and fvckkng soft and happy looking <333)

they're food items from sr! the red one is called a heart beet and the other one is just a carrot that's glitching <3 wars always carries em around to feed lil slime buddies he encounters
