“You know- this wasn’t on my list, I do believe this is you adding things to it.” Everett commented with a small smirk as he adjusted his mask. “By the way, I don’t know if I’ve said it yet, but thank you for staying at Hogwarts and doing all the things I had planned for me and Emma.”

EVENT 016 - NEW YEAR’S EVE

It has not been an easy year for anyone but there is still excitement for students returning early in order to attend Hogwarts’ annual New Years Eve Masquerade Ball. Some alumni are also expected to attend and don’t think your friendly neighborhood Gossip Witches forgot about you this winter season !!

Meanwhile, Hogsmeade is being set up for a big blowout set with drinks, food, games and fireworks. Not as formal but just as fun. Our least favorite witches will likely be sticking their noses in too. Rumor has it they have a belated Christmas present for those in attendance.

Whether you’re wearing a mask or your warmest winter coat, there is no doubt that everyone will have a very interesting start to the new year. Bring on 2024 !!

The event will begin on December 29th at 12 noon GMT to the same time January 10th. “Midnight” at the ball will take place on January 2nd also at 12 noon GMT.

For this event, please track and tag all starters for the masquerade ball with #sdhqmasquerade1 and the Hogsmeade party with #sdhqnewyear2. If they are not taking part in either please use the tag #nonevent or something like it in starters. Do not tag any event posts under #sdhqevent as this is for admin use only. Any outfit posts should be tagged under #sdhqmisc. 

Please make sure to keep your eyes peeled for a post from the gossip blog as we will have something for both parts of the event going on.

Hope you didn’t think we forgot about you guys this year ?? We would never !! For our masqueraders, you’ll find that the punch was spiked with a little more than firewhiskey and vodka this year. Time to spill some tea with some help from our friend veritaserum !!

Now normally we only target the ball-goers at New Year’s but we didn’t want to leave our other friends out. We’ve got a little belated Christmas present for you all. All we’ll say is keep your eyes peeled for our posts but don’t expect any dares this time ...

For all those attending the ball, what we normally do for veritaserum is post a link to ask boxes for honesty hours but we also encourage you to incorporate the drinking of it into interactions with other characters for more plotting potential.

As for the Hogsmeade party, we have decided that we will just be straight up releasing secrets throughout the event for all characters to see and react to. We would like muns to message the main in regards to which character(s) they would be okay with having their secret revealed. Only one character’s secret will be revealed but you’re more than welcome to give us options or if you don’t have a preference, tell us which character(s) whose secrets you definitely don’t want revealed. Remember this is only for characters at the Hogsmeade party. 

Just a reminder that if you have any ideas for major plots during the event that you have not told us about, you must run it past us first !!
