After a drunken hook-up turned confession, Shane avoids you. Unfortunately for him, you aren't willing to let it go that easily.
Warnings: Mentions of hook-ups/sex, alcohol mention, slight hurt/comfort?
When you stumbled home from the Saloon with Shane clinging to you, pressing kisses against the skin of your neck, you hadn’t expected much beyond a quick hook-up with your friend. You hadn’t expected him to confess his love for you as he neared his climax, and clearly he hadn’t expected it either, nor had he expected you to express the same sentiment.
You hadn’t expected much, but you also hadn’t expected him to completely ghost you, slipping back into the feign – at least you hoped – annoyance at you. It hurt. How could it not? One minute you two were close, confessing your love for one another, and the next, you’re strangers again.
Your friends picked up on the sudden switch, mainly Haley who rolled her eyes and told you that you deserved better anyway, but most of them left it be; they knew what Shane was like, after all. Unlike your friends, you couldn’t let it go and spent many of your nights in the saloon, desperately hoping that Shane would show… but he never did.
“He misses you,” Emily said with a kind smile as she dried the rim of a glass. “You should try talk to him.”
You paused, gaze moving from the closed door to Emily.
“I have talked to him; he just doesn’t want anything to do with me!”
Emily’s smile dropped slightly, but not enough for concern.
“Just talk to him, one more attempt can’t hurt, right? He’s probably there again, maybe having a drink, maybe not,”
While you weren’t sure exactly where she was referring to at first, you soon caught up once she mentioned having a drink: he would be where you two had had your first proper conversation.
With a quick ‘thanks’, you left the saloon with a newfound determination.
He was there, much to your surprise, nursing a Joja Cola rather than his usual alcoholic beverage. His gaze was downcast, watching the moons reflection from the gentle ripples of the water below. He was clearly so deep in thought that he hadn’t noticed you until you sat beside him, breaking the silence with a simple statement.
“You’ve been gone,”
He flinched, the soft drink sloshing over the sides of the can. His eyes darted to you, but only for a second, before looking up at the moon, the fullness reflecting in his eyes as you watched him.
“Yeah.”
There wasn’t much point denying it; it was obvious.
“Why?”
Shane paused, body tensing as he let out a long, yet quiet sigh.
Silence, besides the crickets and waves, fell over you both. Shane, still tense, dragged his lower lip between his teeth for a moment, before replying.
“You deserve better,” he said, as though it was the most obvious thing in the world. “I thought I could be better for you, tried stopping the drink, too.” He continued, raising the cola to his lips and taking a sip.
You watched him, eyes wide, as he continued to avoid your gaze, instead favouring to fiddle with the can. No words were shared between you for a moment while you figured out how to respond to this new revelation.
“I don’t want better, whatever that may be, Shane. I want you,”
A quick inhale came from him, and you watched as his hand tightened around the can, the material crunching slightly. He shook his head.
“Don’t say things you don’t mean,”
You shook your head, gently grabbing the can from his hand as he continued to crush it. His hand, now empty, balled itself into a fist, knuckles white.
“I do mean it. I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t.” Honesty bled through your tone as you pleaded with Shane. “If you don’t want this, then that’s fine, I can let it go and never bring it up again but-“
Shane cut you off, eyes darting up to you at the assumption, holding your gaze.
“I do want this,” he said, eyes dropping back to the water. “That’s the problem, Y/N. I’ve never wanted anything more, and I don’t know how to feel about that.” Shane’s voice trailed off into a mere whisper.
Your hand reached out, slowly holding his fist while giving him chance to pull away. He didn’t, and so you carefully unclenched his hand and ran your thumb across the back once it was relaxed.
“Then, we can figure it out together. We can take it at your pace, only do things when you’re comfortable. I’m willing to wait for you, Shane. We can do this together, okay?”
Shane nodded, swallowing as he finally looked up at you and stared at your face for longer than three seconds. A small smile graced his lips as he spoke.
Summary: How your first kiss with each of the bachelorettes happens.
Warnings: None! I tried to keep this as gender neutral as possible. There is mention of fingers running through hair in Haley's and Leah's, sorry about that. Some might have a bit of suggestive themes towards the end, but it's really up to interpretation. Also, I know absolutely nothing about dark rooms and developing photos, so apologies if there are mistakes in Haley's.

Abigail:
Outside, snow was falling, effectively turning Pelican Town into a winter wonderland. Quiet music played in the background, barely hiding the squeeking metal of David's hamster wheel. Abigail was sat in the floor, controller in hand as she focused on the tv, still trying to beat Journey of the Prairie King. You were sat beside her with your own controller, trying to help her out. So far, it wasn't going to plan and as you played your sixth round, you were beginning to think that the game would never be beat. Abigail groaned in frustration as her character died once more, leaving you to fend for yourself.
"This is impossible! I hate this game.. how on earth is anyone supposed to beat this?!" You couldn't help but smile, biting back the laugh that threatened to escape you, glancing over to the purple haired girl. Her face was scrunched up in annoyance, eyes set on the pixelated screen. The sound of your character dying brought your attention back to the screen, making you sigh.
"One more round? I have a good feeling about this one." Abigail's eyes were bright, spirit somehow lifted once more as she gripped her controller, already starting up a new round.
"You've said that before every round... you know that, right?"
"Well, this time I mean it." She motioned to the tv, where the level was starting. "Come on!"
With two lives down and tensions heightening, you and Abigail played better than you had all morning, nearing the end of the game.
“Almost.... we're nearly there..."
A beat of silence seemed to consume the room as the level ended, congratulating the two of you for beating it. You and Abigail turned to each other, slow smiles growing on your faces before Abigail was jumping up, throwing her controller aside as she cheered, practically running around her room in excitement. "Finally!!!!"
You laughed, watching her from the floor as she jumped up and down, suddenly stopping and turning to you as if just now remembering you were here.
"Y/n!!! Thank you!!" She rushed to you, throwing herself on you in a hug, nearly knocking you back. "I cannot tell you how happy I am to finally beat that stupid game!" She reared back, excitement taking over as she grabbed your face, slamming her lips down onto your own. You felt yourself freeze, unable to react. Abigail pulled back, shock and panic on her own face as she realized what she had done.
"Oh Yoba.." She moved away from you, still kneeling in front of you as she hid her face into her hands. "Y/n, I am so, so, so, so sorry!! I don't know what came over me!" You blinked, laughing slightly as you reached for her wrists, revealing the deep blush on her cheeks. She kept her eyes closed tightly, apologies still spewing from her lips as you pulled her closer. It wasn't until your lips met hers that she stopped apologizing, immediately kissing you back.
When she pulled away, a triumphant smile on her face as she said, "I think this is turning out to be the best day of my life." You couldn't help but laugh and say, "Why? Because you beat the game or because we kissed?" She gave you a look, leaning in again to kiss you, hovering over your lips for a moment. "Both, duh." Before you could laugh, her lips met yours once more in a kiss that was far from the last you'd share.
Emily:
The scent of Sweet Pea's and an underlying hint of rain greeted you as you walked out of the Mines. Your backpack was heavy, weighing you down slightly as you walked through the mountains. Your muscles were aching and a cut on your thigh was bleeding a bit too heavily, running down your leg and ruining your sock. Still, you walked with a smile on your face, finding it hard for anything to dampen your mood
You had been down in the Mines all day, on the hunt for a Ruby. Emily had mentioned wanting one the other night and that was enough to send you down in search of one. It was growing late into the evening, the hot summer temperatures dropping, an almost cold breeze blowing through the trees in anticipation of the distant storm. The sky was growing dark, deep purple clouds blowing in, slowly overtaking the pink and orange hues of the sunset. You could hear the frogs croaking in the lake as you passed, could smell the faint smoke of Sebastian's cigarette as he crouched down near the water.
You waved to him as you passed, not bothering to stop for a chat as you made your way down to the town, excited to see the blue haired girl that had caught your attention from the very first day you moved to the valley 2 years ago. You were just passing Pierre's General Store when a flash of blue caught your eye. Emily was leaving the Saloon, laughing loudly as she walked alongside Marnie. It was still early, you hadn't expected her to be leaving the bar so soon, but you felt your smile grow as you called out to her.
Emily paused, turning around to find you. She smiled at first, but as her eyes trailed down to your bloody leg, you could see her already pale face whiten. She said something to Marnie, quickly excusing herself as she ran to you. "Y/n!! Are you alight?" You glanced at your leg barely noticing the sting now. "Hmm? Oh fine, don't worry about that. Are you done with work already?" She looked a bit exasperated at your nonchalance, but it wasn't hard to miss that it was easing her anxiety. "Um..yeah. Gus let me go early cause of the upcoming storm. Are you sure you're alright?"
"Just a scratch, Em." She hummed, shaking her head and grabbing your arm as if deciding something. "Come with me, I'll get you cleaned up. " You let her pull you to her house, watching the side of her face as you went. When you reached the house, you were met with silence.
Emily pulled you along to the kitchen, finally letting go as she pointed to the dining room chair. "Sit." You did as she said, eyes following her as she searched under the sink for a first aid kit.
As she cleaned up the blood, she glanced up at you, a slight scowl on her face. "How did you manage to get this 'scratch', hmm?" "I was in the Mines, tripped over a rock as I was trying to dodge a Slime." Her eyes widened slightly, making you chuckle. "It's okay, could've been worse."
"Why were you down there in the first place? I thought you said you were gonna wait until Winter to go back." "I did, but something came up." "What's that?" "I'll show you in a sec." She hummed, going back to her work as she cleaned up the wound. The cut had went a bit deeper than you originally thought, hence the blood, but as Emily decided that it wouldn't need stitches, she put some ointment over it and finished off with a bandage.
As she walked to the sink, turning her back to you as she washed her hands, you grabbed your backpack. Emily was turning back to you as you pulled out a cloth, catching her attention. "Is that what you went back down for?" You nodded, slowly unfolding the cloth to reveal the shining Ruby. Emily gasped, dropping down into the chair next to yours, her eyes never leaving the gem. "Is that...oh Y/n, you didn't. You went down there for me?" You smiled, extending your hand for her to take the Ruby as you said, "Of course."
Emily leaned forward slightly, resting her hand overtop of the gem, but not taking it from your hand as she rested her forehead against your own. "I can't believe you...you risked getting hurt just because I wanted a Ruby?" You chuckled, your fingers dancing up against her wrist. "Well, you said you wanted one.." She scoffed, shaking her head, keeping her head pressed against yours. "You're insane, you know that?" You pushed your hand up, forcing the gem further into her hand. "Take it." She did so, pulling back slightly as she looked down at it. "It's beautiful. I hate that you got hurt because of me."
You shook your head, leaning down and forcing her to catch your gaze once more. "You didn't ask me to go down there. I made that decision myself, it's my responsibility." A shy smile appeared on her face as she set the Ruby down on the table. "Still...I don't like seeing you hurt. You mean a lot to me, Farmer." Your smile widened, feeling emboldened enough to lean forward, but stopping far enough away to allow her to take that next step.
Emily leaned forwards, not hesitating to press her lips onto yours, hands finding their way to your neck. You leaned closer, hand resting on her knee as the other reached up, cupping her cheek. You found yourselves getting lost in the kiss, only pulling away out of surprise when an annoyed voice exploded in the silence of the kitchen. "Uh ew... your room is right there, Emily." Your eyes flicked over to Haley, who was reaching into the fridge for a drink. "Sorry Haley...I thought you were out." The golden haired sister turned, eyes falling to you as she said, "Clearly." As she walked away, her voice called out one more time, "it's about time, by the way!!"
Haley:
The rippling sound of the developing solution was all that could be heard in the dark room as Haley developed her latest photos. Your shoulders brushed against the girl next to you, the cramped closet leaving little room to move around. You watched with undivided attention, a sense of pride warming your chest over the knowledge that Haley had never brought another person into her dark room, not even her sister. You knew this process was special to her, that her photography was something she was very proud of.
You looked to the photos hanging above you, various subjects littered throughout. The newest additions she was adding featured your farm, with you as the main focus in more than a few of them. Haley was moving with practiced precision, in her own world as the pictures came into view. You wouldn't be surprised if she had forgotten you were here at all. You watched in silence, eyes trailing to her face more than once. You had never seen her so at peace, almost as if a mask was removed and her guard was entirely let down.
She clipped another photo onto the drying line, taking a moment to admire it with a small smile on her face. You watched her face harden slightly, expression unreadable as she turned to you, eyebrow raising in the process. "You're staring, you know that?" You smiled, shrugging slightly. "I'm just admiring, you seem to be in your element here." Haley's shoulders eased slightly, biting her lip as she failed to stop the smile that tugged at them. "I am, nothing makes me happier than photography."
She turned back to the task, dipping another photo as you leaned forward slightly. "How did you get into it anyway?" For a moment, Haley didn't speak, focusing on what she was doing.
You thought maybe she wouldn't answer at all, when she suddenly glanced back to you, only meeting your eyes for a brief moment. "My parents have always traveled around, mostly just leaving me and Emily to our own devices. It got lonely sometimes... and you know me and Emily aren't the closest, I guess that's mostly my fault. We're just so different, you know? I guess it was easier for me to just push her away. I mean, mom and dad were never around and I guess I was just worried that one day she'd leave too so..it was just easier to keep my distance."
She sighed, moving her head forward a bit so her hair would fall, covering more of her face. "I found this camera in my parents closet.... thought I'd try it out. I realized how much it comforted me...being able to capture something in the moment. It allows me to keep things close... freeze moments in time so they'd never end." You turned once more, looking at the pictures around the small room, spotting ones of various townspeople, Marnie's cows, a bunny hiding in a bush, multiple snapshots of Emily, and finally, the newest ones of you that had been added to the collection. At your silence, Haley shook her head and muttered out, "I don't know, maybe it's stupid." You turned to her, reaching for her arm. She flinched away, looking to you as you said,
"It's not stupid...I think it's really nice. It's beautifil, actually."
She turned fully to you as you smiled, admiring the photos around you. Haley watched you for a moment, slowly reaching out to place her hand on your jaw. Your eyes found hers immediately, not expecting her to reach for you. You lifted your hand, placing it over her own as you stared at each other, the silence of the space somehow becoming even louder. You felt her pull you closer as she took a small step, an unnecessary movement in the small closet, but a welcomed one nonetheless. She leaned closer to you, foreheads bumping lightly as her nose nudged into yours. In a hushed voice, that would've been missed anywhere else, she said, "Thank you."
You almost pulled away, confusion seeping into your tone as you said, "for what?" A teasing smile pulled at her lips, her other hand finding its way to your cheek. "For being persistent." She pressed a small kiss to your lips, pulling away before you could deepen it. "For continuing to talk to me even when I was being mean to you." Another kiss. "For being one of the only people in this town who have actually tried to get to know me." Another. "For making me want to be a better person." And another. "For not leaving." Her lips fully slotted against yours, hands moving into your hair as your own hands reached for her, deepening the kiss.
She pushed you back slightly, your back bumping against the door. The kiss grew hurried, almost desperate, as if unspoken words were being passed between the two of you. When Haley pulled away, and harsh breaths replaced the once silent room, you couldn't help but laugh. Haley raised her eyebrow, her lips twitching upwards as she said, "what's so funny?"
"Nothing, I just, I didn't think you liked me back." She smiled, leaning in to kiss you once more, a few pecks following as she pulled away. "I liked you from the moment you moved to this old town....you somehow made everything feel alright again, for the first time in a long time." You smiled, wrapping your arms around her instead, pulling her into a hug. After a moment. Haley pulled back, a mischievious look on her face as she said, "I think I know what I want my next photography session to be." Her lips finding yours once more as her hand pressed against the light switch, turning off the red light and bathing the two of you in darkness.
Leah:
Rain was tapping against the roof of the small cottage, the fireplace lit and casting a warm orange glow onto the living room floor. You and Leah were sat on the floor at her coffee table, an array of art supplies strewn about the room. She had suggested a paint night for your 3rd date, which you had gladly accepted. Music was flowing softly throughout the room as the two of you laughed, talking about anything and everything you could think of.
Since coming to the valley a year ago, you and Leah had only grown closer and closer. When you finally built up the courage to gift her a bouquet, she had accepted it with a loud laugh, pulling out a bouquet of her own that was meant for you. Ever since then, you two seemed to be inseparable, spending every chance you could together. Now, as thunder rumbled in the distance, and a blanket wrapped around your shoulders, you studied Leah's face, glancing down at the canvas where you were failing miserably to capture her features. You watched as she painted with ease, clearly in her element as her eyes flicked to you every once in a while.
"Are you going to break up with me once you realize that I can't paint to save my life?" You cringed at the painting, all the colors melting together in a shapeless blob. Leah laughed, shaking her head as she dipped her paintbrush once more. "Course not! Besides, I'm sure it looks great, honey." Your chest warmed at the pet name, smiling as you looked back to the canvas. "I think a raccoon could've done a better job than me. This looks nothing like you." Leah's smile deepened, eyes finding your dejected figure as you slumped slightly. "Art is subjective anyway." You looked to her, disbelief on your face as she laughed. "I'm done with mine, you?"
The two of you moved to the side of the coffee table, sitting closer as you held your canvases away from each other. Leah's toothy grin made your stomach swim in butterflies as you looked back down to the monstrosity you had created. "Who's first?" You sighed looking at her, “I’ll go...it's better to get the disappointment out of the way." Leah gave you a pointed look, shaking her head as you turned the canvas towards her. You watched her eyes fall down to it, smile brightening as her eyes widened. "Oh wow... honey that sure is something." You groaned, setting the canvas aside as you fell back, ignoring Leah's laugh as she placed her hand on your knee.
"I told you it was awful!!" She laughed harder, making you smile, laughing along with her as you sat up. 'It is not! I just... well I wasn't expecting that." You nudged her with your foot, pushing the canvas even farther away from the two of you. "Oh whatever! Well come on, let's see your masterpiece." She huffed, ears turning red as she said, "it's hardly a masterpiece... but I suppose next to yours, anything would be." She laughed as your jaw fell open, a smile on your face nonetheless. "You're mean!" She reached forward, grabbing your hand in apology before turning her own canvas. You weren't surprised to see the beautiful painting before you, but you smiled as you took it from her, admiring how she painted you.
"Leah... this is beautiful." "Well, I had a beautiful model" You poked at her again, face scrunching as you said, 'cheesy." She laughed, scooting closer until your shoulders pressed together, admiring the painting. "This was a fun date though, right? Even if your painting didn't come out exactly as you wanted?" You nodded, placing her canvas down on the table with care.
"It was... thank you for putting it together." You placed your head onto her shoulder as she smiled, leaning her head against yours. "Maybe I could teach a few things, if you want?" 'I'd like that."
The two of you sat in silence, listening to the mix of music and rain, the fire crackling in the fireplace. It was cozy and warm, a moment you wanted to live in forever. At the sound of a loud clap of thunder, you sat up, pulling away from Leah. Your mind wandered back to the farm for a moment, wondering how your chickens were doing in their coop, knowing they weren't the biggest fans of storms like these. Before your mind could drift too far, a warm hand gently pulling at your cheek caught your attention, your eyes falling back to Leah. She smiled at you, features soft in the warm light. "Where did you go just now?" "Just thinking... my chickens don't like thunder." A soft chuckle left Leah's lips as she rested her forehead on yours. "Ahh, I see. Do you want to go check on them?" You thought for a moment, finding it hard to move away.
"No, they'll be okay, it's not too bad." She hummed, face tilting closer to yours as she muttered, "good." Her lips slotted against yours, fingers tangling in your hair as she deepened the kiss. The storm melted away into the background, your sole focus remaining on the girl before you.
Maru:
A cool breeze blew through the trees, carrying fallen leaves up into the sky and away from where they had previously landed. It was a cold Fall night, the sky clear of any clouds, allowing the stars to be on full display. They twinkled brightly, accompanied by a crescent moon. You were sure that time was ticking past midnight, but it was hard to care as you sat on a quilted blanket, wrapped in another as you watched Maru. She was tinkering with her telescope, adjusting and zooming the lens as she looked for something. Your breath was visible as you let out a yawn, the long day creeping up on you the longer you sat here.
Maru leaned away from her telescope, bright smile on her face as she turned to you. "I found it! Come here, have a look!" You stood from the blanket, keeping the one around your shoulders tightly wound against you as you walked over to her. "What am I looking at?" You leaned against the telescope, a glowing cluster catching your attention immediately. "It's the Orion Nebula! This isn't the strongest telescope, so you can't see it in its full beauty, but it's still magnificent isn't it?!" You smiled at her enthusiasm, nodding in agreement. "It is... wow" You pulled away, looking to Maru. She was looking up at the stars, a smile so wide on her face you were sure her cheeks must be aching
"Anything else you'd like to see?" You thought for a moment before saying, "Saturn?" She smiled, moving to the telescope once more. The two of you stayed there for a bit longer, Maru finding different things within space to show you while you listened to each fact she had to say.
After a bit, you layed on the quilt together, looking up at the different constellations above you.
As you listened to Maru point them out, telling you of the stories and legends that went along with them, you felt your eyes growing heavier and heavier. Fall was always one of your busiest seasons and today had been especially busy. It was the start of Blackberry season, your fingers still stained and sore from all the picking you had done earlier in the day.
Your eyes slowly closed, completely at ease as Maru droned on, unaware of your tired state.
Only a few minutes had passed before Maru realized you were no longer responding. She gently shook you awake, a sheepish look crossing her face as you blinked awake, looking to her.
"Did I doze?" She smiled, nodding as she began to sit up. "I'm sorry.. I didn't mean to keep you out so late. I know you're busy, you've probably had a long day." You shook your head, sitting up as well before standing with her. "It's okay, this was nice...I had a great time." She smiled, bundling up the quilts in her arms. "Good. I'm glad. I, I had a nice time too." You grinned, eyes still heavy with sleep as you turned towards the trail. "Can I...can I walk you back to your farm?" You raised an eyebrow, looking to Maru as her face flushed. You held your tongue, deciding not to tease her as you nodded, reaching backwards for her hand.
She smiled, interlacing her fingers with your own as the two of you made your way down the dirt path to your farm. The two of you walked in silence, listening to the crickets singing within the grass, the distant sound of an owl hooting within the trees. As you reached the porch of the farmhouse, you turned to Maru, thanking her for walking you back to the house. She smiled, other arm full of blankets while she still held onto your hand. "What are your plans for tomorrow?" You thought a moment, glancing down to the planted seeds that had just started to sprout. "Tomorrow should be less chaotic, think it's supposed to rain so. I won't be doing much." Maru nodded, looking down at the porch for a moment. "Mind if I come see you?" You shook your head, hand gripping hers tightly. "Course not."
She smiled, stepping closer to you as she pulled you into a one armed hug. "See you tomorrow then?" You nodded, stopping her from walking away.
You lifted your hand, brushing her hair back behind her ear before cupping her cheek. She stepped closer, head tilting as you kissed her. A dull thump hit your ears, but before you could pull away to question it. Maru's hands reached for you, letting you know she had dropped the quilts. When she pulled away, hesitating to move, you reached down, gathering the blankets. "Would you...want to just spend the night?" Maru smiled, nodding her head before kissing you again, following you inside the farmhouse.
Penny:
Thunder shook the old farmhouse, rain beating against the old wood. It was a crisp Spring day, the rain blowing in early this morning, cutting your duties short. The crops were easily forgotten in the rain, the animals had been fed, and any other work that needed to be done could be left for now. A fire was lit in the fireplace, your cat snoozing on the rug nearby.
The tv in the corner played quietly as you sat on the old beat up sofa, book in hand. With your new occupation of running the farm, you found little time to read nowadays, so rainy days like this were always welcomed.
You could hear the wind whistling outside, trees bowing over with the force. Rain smacked the windows in a loud pitter patter, no doubt coming down harder than before. You were just turning the page when a hurried knock sounded at the front door, catching your attention immediately. Your eyebrows scrunched together as you stood, wondering who would be insane enough to walk all the way out here in this storm. When you pulled open the door, the last person you expected to see was Penny. She was standing beneath the porch roof, arms wrapped around herself as she shivered, soaked to the bone.
"Penny?! What on Earth are you doing out here?" You pulled her inside, shutting the door behind her before quickly running to get her a towel. When you came back, wrapping it around her, she sniffled, grabbing it with shaky hands. "Thank you." Her voice came out small, eyes cast down to the floor. You stared at her a moment, completely perplexed. "Do... do you want to go take a shower? You can borrow some clothes?" She nodded, following you along to the bathroom. You grabbed her some warm clothes to change into, taking her own drenched clothing to throw in the wash. As she took a shower to warm herself up, you sat back on the sofa, book long forgotten as you wondered what could've possibly possessed her to walk through the rain to get here.
After a while, Penny returned to the living room, looking as sad as she did when she got here.
You stood on instinct, meeting her halfway. "Thank you. I feel better." You nodded, looking over her face. Her eyes were red and puffy, no doubt from crying. "Penny... what's going on?" She sighed, eyebrows furrowing together as she sat on the couch. You followed her, taking the seat next to her. "It's my mom. She came home drunk, reeking of beer. I hadn't seen her all morning and I was getting worried, so when she came home I just...I got mad. We got into this huge fight and...she said that if I didn't like it there, that I might as well leave. I know she didn't really mean it...we' ve blown up on each other over way less, but I couldn't stay there. I ran out and... my feet led me here. I'm sorry to just show up unannounced."
"It's okay, you're always welcome here. I'm sorry about your mom." She smiled slightly, meeting your eyes for the first time since she got here. "Thanks. I just don't understand why she can't see where I'm coming from. She's practically killing herself in front of me and then doesn't understand why I'm upset over it. I love her, and even if we don't always get along, she's all I have. I don't want to lose her...she's my mom." You sighed, unsure of what you could say
"Maybe...maybe we could hold an intervention for her? Show her how much this truly means to you. I could help you out...and I know Gus would be up for it."
Penny's eyes watered up once more as she looked to you. "Would you really do that?" You nodded, reaching for her hand. "Of course. I know how much Pam's drinking affects you, how much damage it's causing. Id hate to see anything bad happen when we have the means of at least trying to help her. Obviously I can't promise it'll work... but it's a step in the right direction." Penny nodded, tears slipping down her cheeks as she hugged you, grateful for the suggestion. "Thank you... you have no idea how much that means to me." She pulled back slightly, placing a gentle kiss to your cheek. You turned your head slightly, noses brushing as Penny's breath hitched.
You leaned forward, just enough for your lips to brush against Penny's. You pulled back slightly, but didn't get far as Penny surged forward, kissing you. You kissed her back, pulling her closer. When she pulled away, head resting against yours, she smiled and said, "this means a lot to me Y/n, more than you know." You pressed another kiss to her cheek and said, "I think I do. I meant what I said earlier, you're always welcome here, anytime you like."

The first time he came in was short but memorable.
He drifted in on cigarette smoke with a black leather jacket and choker that caught your eye right away.
“I like your style,” you said without thinking.
He looked down when he smiled, his hair coming between you like a black curtain. “Thanks.”
Your coworkers teased you about the crush you swore wasn’t a crush, yet he somehow became ‘your’ customer that the others would step aside to let you serve.
He had a quiet, rasping voice that had you watching his pierced lips. He had all your attention and yet sometimes his words failed to make sense in your fuzzy brain.
“Sorry?” you asked as you entered his usual black coffee order.
A little nervous laugh left his lips and gripped your heart.
“A cookie. One of those iced ones,” he said and pointed with a black-tipped fingernail to the display.
“Of course! Anything else?” You tried to fall back into your usual customer service routine despite the blunder.
He shook his head, hair falling into his eyes again with the motion but he swiped it back.
Handing him the pastry bag was a nerve-wracking affair. Normally when he got his coffee it was already on the counter. And your card machine being on the back of the register meant you never had to hand him anything before.
You prayed that you wouldn’t drop it or otherwise make a fool of yourself as you handed it to him, but you didn’t. He took it from you and your fingers brushed, electricity sparking up your arm and warming your cheeks.
You both looked away quickly. Instead of leaving though, he sat in the cafe that day.
And every subsequent visit.
He’d settle at a table with his laptop and nurse his coffee as you stole glances. Unfortunately, he always seemed to pick a chair facing the counter, so it wasn’t so easy to get away with.
You’d linger in the cafe sweeping up nothing and cataloguing everything you could about this interesting stranger. His knee bounced when he wasn’t typing. And when he did, his hands flew over his keyboard in bursts. He was a really fast typer.
“I like your stickers,” you said without thinking, eyeing the video game references and cute frog stuck to his laptop.
He took out an earbud you hadn’t noticed and you flushed with embarrassment.
“What?”
“Oh, um, your stickers. I like your stickers, sorry. I didn’t see the—” you pointed to your ears and trailed off. “Sorry to bother you.”
He smiled wider than he ever had before and yep, you were doomed. That smile was moonlight to a moth.
“No, that's okay you aren’t bothering me. Thank you.”
You smiled tightly and nodded, trying to make a swift escape, but he spoke again before you could, pulling you back to him.
“Do you— do you game?”
You stalled with a lame grin stuck to your face until your brain could get past the excitement. “Yeah, a bit.”
He took out his other earbud and leaned his elbow on the table. “What do you play?”
Another customer chose the worst possible time to enter. The bell grated its chime as you screamed internally.
“I’m so sorry, I have to get back to work but…” you looked at the counter and back to him with your heart racing… and decided to take a chance. “I’m going on break soon, actually, I wouldn’t mind talking then?”
Far from repulsed at your unprofessionalism, he actually seemed excited. “Yeah! I mean,” he cleared his throat, “Sure. Sure, yeah, I’ll be here.”
“Okay,” you practically whispered with your breath gone and raced back to the counter.
You glanced at him again as you checked out the next customer. Your customer was sitting with an excited and blushy little smile that made your heart soar.
Your break could not come fast enough.

EVENT MASTERLIST | STARDEW VALLEY MASTERLIST
It was completely normal for her to think another girl is pretty.
She knows this much; she isn’t stupid. But there was something else about this new girl, this farmer or whatever—that made Haley’s heart ache with a feeling she hardly recognized. Something that she knew was more than just complimenting a girl on her appearance, or holding hands while walking down the sidewalk. It was more than friendly hugs and sharing clothes. It was the late night talks about things like love and mortality and cheese fondue. It was the way she tried to match her lips to your lipstick marks on the bottle when you two shared a drink, because she felt like it was the only way she’d ever get to kiss them and mean it. It was the nights she spent in her dark room, staring at the photos that she had with you and of you, trying to tell her heart to stop beating so fast at the mere sight of your face.
And, it was what she should have felt for her ex, Alex.
Or… was it? Maybe that’s just what friendship is—maybe it’s always meant to be greater than romantic love. Haley couldn’t remember the last time she dated a man that made her feel the same kind of happy freedom that her very best friends did, or some especially pretty girls that she would see around the saloon from time to time. Maybe that’s just how being with a man is, she tells herself. Everyone always talks about it like it’s a burden anyways. Alex is as good as a man gets—no man will ever compare to her.
But as she lays in bed that night—after a hang out session that ran way too late into the night with you, full of fluttering heartbeats and drunk chocolate covered strawberry flavored kisses—she knows it’s something more. Deep down, she knows that what she feels for you is not only different than the love she feels for her other friends, but different than the ways she’s loved her past exes too. It’s so much deeper, so much more intense—so much so that it often leaves her gasping and clutching at her chest as her heart hammers at her ribcage, just begging to be freed.
She won’t let it, though. She can’t. Not after she told everyone that the reason she broke things off with Alex was because they were too busy, when in reality it was because she wouldn’t ever kiss him or sleep with him or touch him—“This isn’t a relationship, Haley,” he’d said exasperatedly, as tears ran down her face, “face it. We’re better off as just friends.”
And it was the truth. She liked Alex a lot—just not enough to do those things with him. She liked him just as much as any of her other friends, thinking that because she felt that signature flutter it was something more. Finally, a guy that made her feel the way that her girl friends did. It was a shame that she had a terrible habit of confusing friendship with something more.
Maybe that’s another reason she refuses to call this thing she has with you anything more than friendship, even though she knows that it is. It was embarrassing enough when she was mistaken with Alex and it strained their friendship for a good while—she didn’t want to do that to you too, and perhaps lose you for good. After all, she’s known Alex for a lot longer than she’s known you, and she always felt like he’d always sort of be around anyways—whether that was as her boyfriend or simply her friend.
You—where did she even start with you?
You came into her life like a tornado; destroying everything that she previously thought she knew about herself. She thought she knew herself well—she liked boys that were masculine but still pretty faced, she liked open mouthed closed eyed kissing, and she liked Alex.
But then she met you—Yoba, maybe she shouldn’t have ever stopped by your sunflower field—and she realized that no, she liked girls that were strong and beautiful, kissing girls with tongue and cupping their faces in her hands as she pulls back to admire her lover, and she liked you. And then she realized she didn’t know herself at all, and she better pull back before it was too late—too late to pretend it was just a phase, too late to pretend like she was still… what everyone expected of her.
It was all so devastatingly confusing. She only saw you as a friend—a very pretty friend, at that—until she started kissing you and realized that she felt more for you than she felt for her ex-boyfriend. And that was what completely destroyed her perception of the line between friendship and something more; further breaking what Alex initially began.
To be very fair, it wasn’t your fault—and she knew that. It was all her. So she poured herself into her hobbies, painting people until she realized that they all resembled you, going to the beach and collecting shells until she realized that all the ones in her hands were your favorite color. Kissing men that had your eyes or your lips, and closing her eyes the entire time, picturing only that feature.
She’s still running through these chaotic, messy memories as she forgets herself in the arms of another man that somewhat resembles you—this time, he wears the same type of clothes that you do, all flannel and denim. But his lips taste like tobacco and his hands are much too large and calloused, much more so than yours are. Your hands—in Haley’s mind—are perfect. Perfect to hold, perfect to kiss… and perfect for other things too.
“You’re so fucking hot,” the man growls against her lips, disrupting her thoughts and shattering her illusion of being in your arms instead of a stranger’s. She pulls away abruptly, her chest heaving as she pants, feeling bile rising in her throat.
This feels so fucking wrong.
She manages to mutter out an apology—or something close to it—before stumbling away, the seven shots of tequila finally making their reappearance as she locks herself in a dingy bathroom stall, heaving as she clutches the sides of the porcelain toilet bowl. It disgusts her to think about how many germs there are on the public toilet seat that she’s currently laying her face on, but the nausea bubbling up within her wins the fight. Exhausted, and disgusted with herself for multiple reasons, she finally vomits up the tequila and her dinner, tears pouring down her cheeks as she sobs into the toilet bowl, her cries echoing around the empty bathroom.
“Haley?”
Or, the not so empty bathroom.
“How did you know it was me?”
“I know what you sound like, Haley.”
She’s silent for a moment, her tongue sour with stomach bile as she takes in the concern and exasperation laced through your voice. You’re worried, but you’re also tired. This isn’t the first time you’ve found her in this very position, at this very bar.
“Can I help you get home?” you ask, tentatively. “I’m… worried.”
“There’s no reason to be,” Haley spits, though she feels guilt pooling in her stomach as soon as she says it—joining the alcohol in making her feel absolutely nauseous.
“Just open the door, Haley.”
She doesn’t want you to see her like this. Of all people, especially not you. But what else can she do? Go back out there and kiss that man wearing clothes that looked like yours, with her vomit breath?
She unlocks the stall door, wiping a string of drool from her chin as she refuses to make eye contact with you. She’s disheveled; the front of her blue top stained with sweat and vomit and God knows what else. Her makeup is running; her mascara clumpy and dripping down her cheeks in inky black tears, her lips swollen and lipstick smudged. Tears are still evident in her blue eyes, though she doesn’t look back at you—she’s much too ashamed to do that.
Instead of laughing at her or ignoring her, you feel a lump arise in your throat at the sight of your girl—she was once almost your girl—in such a state of unrest. It’s no wonder you reach down to rip off a few squares of cheap, one-ply toilet paper to gently wipe her inky tears, clean the smudges of pink lipstick around her mouth.
“Why are you still doing this?” she asks, her voice harsh. “Why do you still care? I haven’t talked to you sober in weeks.”
“That’s exactly why I’m still doing this,” you whisper back, your voice pained and your heart breaking as you see the cold look in her eyes. “Why can’t we be happy together, Haley? Why do you have to keep running away?”
“We’re not having this talk again,” she mumbles, her voice still slurring as she tries to push you aside and stumble out of the bathroom. She needs something—someone—to distract herself from your presence. “I’m not—I’m not like that. Like you.”
“Haley,” you say softly. And that’s all you say—a singular utterance of her name. Then you look at her, your eyes searching hers for something more, something to tell you to keep trying to reach out and see if she’s okay despite her hostility. Something to tell you that you’re doing the right thing, and that all she needs is some time to heal before—
“I’m not a lesbian.”
She’s said it before. She’s said it every single time you try to pick her up off the floor of this bar bathroom, even though you’re not trying to come onto her again. You desperately want to—you think you might love her, for Christ’s sake—but not when she’s drunk. Not when she’s still this lost and confused.
“Okay,” you say quietly, forcing a small smile. “I know. Just let me help you home, okay? As a friend. Nothing more, I promise.”
She regards you skeptically, swaying and steadying herself on the grimy bathroom wall for a moment as she narrows her eyes at you. “I don’t trust you,” she says, pointing at you. Her breath smells like bile and tequila but all you want to do is kiss her despite this. “You… you make me feel things. And it’s not right—it’s not who I am. You’re fucking me up.”
This time it’s more cutting—usually she doesn’t elaborate. Usually she lets you take her home, drop her off. You always leave two aspirin and a glass of water on her nightstand before you go, usually waving to Emily on the way out.
You know. Emily knows. She doesn’t know.
“I’m not fucking anyone up. If you’re feeling something for me, then you’ve been this way all along. And nothing will change that,” you say sharply, the dam finally flooding; splintering and breaking and releasing the torrents of water that threaten to separate you from Haley altogether, once and for all.
Feeling numb, you push past her, nudging her shoulder roughly on the way out. It’s not even on purpose—you just can’t see straight from the tears that are blurring your eyes.
Haley nearly trips over her own feet, calling out your name and making you turn around, groaning loudly with frustration.
“What?” you ask, your voice cracking with emotion.
She takes a deep breath, looking you in the eye. “I mean it when I said I’m not a—“
You don’t even wait for her to finish her sentence—for her to say that word like it’s something dirty or wrong. “Fine!” you snap, glaring at her. Tears dribble down your face in thick, hot streams. Your nose is dripping snot, wetting your upper lip. “Good luck, babe!” you say sarcastically, almost relishing in the heartbreak on her face. You turn on your heel, this time not caring—you wouldn’t be returning to the saloon anytime soon, not for her.
If she wanted to tell you something, she could come find you herself.

★How the bachelors would react if they accidentally made you cry
word count: 1.1k
Alex:
-would probably not even notice you're crying at first
-his expression would change so quickly
-😀😦
-kind of knew he had it coming though, since a lot of the stuff that flies out of his mouth is....well😇
-would IMMEDIATELY start taking the blame, saying things like "nahhh i didn't actually mean that i lied haha no idea why i said that i'm so stupid" ((starts blaming it on his hormones being affected by working out or something😭😭))
-hesitates at first, but pulls you into the tightest embrace you've ever felt ngl probably hurts a little lol
-his way of apologising to you is saying "you can punch me as hard as you want, i deserve it!!!!"
-starts treating you like royalty for another month, to the point where it becomes annoying
-every time you bring it up, even as a joke, he basically drops to his knees and starts apologising all over again
Elliott:
-if you thought this man was already dramatic as it is....lord🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
-would try to be cool about it, while in his head he's already pressing a dagger to his neck, saying that he has now betrayed his heart and doesn't want to go on any longer
-the moment he sees tears flowing down your face, the only word able to come out of his mouth is a soft "no, no, no..."
-he'd probably start crying with you😭😭😭
-starts whispering the most loving and kind things about yourself into your ear
-literally compares you to the most breathtaking images you could ever envision
-alternative scenario, where he just drops to the floor and starts begging for your forgiveness, even though what he said wasn't really that bad
-after that, he checks up on you every 5 minutes, to make sure you're not upset with him
-would swear on his life and soul to never hurt you again ((mind you it was never that serious😭))
-writes you so many short poems...atp they just become a whole book
Harvey:
-man....😭
-probably hurts him more than it does you lmao
-you crying would be too much for him already...but crying because of him?? ouuu
-is ready to completely retract what he said, even if he's absolutely right, that just doesn't matter to him anymore
-he just stands there for a good amount of time, since he really doesn't know how to deal with these kinds of emotions
-this might just be the first time this man has made someone cry because...let's be fr☠️
-would do that thing where he cups your cheeks and wipes your tears with his thumbs ((after that he's kinda clueless though😭))
-this literally being his worst nightmare...in his eyes hurting you is the equivalent of failing as a partner...and he's not really allowed to fail too often🙁
-would wait 30 years until you're not upset with him ((it takes you exactly 1 minute btw)), and after that it's flowers delivered to your doorstep every day of the week
-even if it were to be a one-time occurrence, he would NEVER EVER forget it, and he would always justify spoiling you with it ((using the 4 cents he makes from the clinic👎))
Sam:
-he is not that smart when it comes to verbalising thoughts please forgive him
-says things like "aw man you're crying😔😔😔😭😭“
-if he's holding a drink or eating something, he offers it to you, even if there's a single bite/sip left of it
-refuses to smile until he's 100% sure you've forgiven him, otherwise he just looks like this: :--(
-low-key fighting for his life not to pull out his phone and google "how to comfort crying person wikihow"
-once you tell him that it's okay between you two bro gets jolly, running around in circles, giggling, twirling his hair and laying down kicking his feet up
-the thing he did that upset you could've been minor, but that still doesn't stop him from saying "man...😔🤦 i'm so glad this chapter is behind us now.." like okay???😭😭😭 ((bonus points if he describes this as a "rough patch" in your relationship))
-tries making something for you after, fails miserably, resorts to showing you cool skateboard tricks he learned off of youtube
-learns his lesson and actually thinks more before he says something ((to the best of his ability))
-promises to write a song about your love and go platinum ((shows it to sebastian and gets banned from writing lyrics for the band forever))
Sebastian:
-freezes immediately
-literally unable to get a single word out, what is he supposed to do in his situation😭
-manages to whisper "i didn't mean..." and proceeds to go quiet after that
-he's been living a sheltered life for a very long time, so he's really scared that whatever he says it will only hurt you even more
-you can definitely see his expression change...not only does it soften but he looks UPSET upset, mostly with himself
-pulls you into a hug, hoping that it'll help a little bit ((it does, bro seems like a good hugger))
-asks you if there's anything he can do to cheer you up, and let me tell you he'd really do anything
-does not let you go for the rest of the day, having his arm wrapped around you, holding your hand, even if it's just the pinky fingers touching
-you have to keep reassuring him that it's okay now, he literally hits you with the "are you sure you're not mad at me?" every 3 seconds just to make sure you guys are good🙏
-lets you touch whatever you want in his room, i'm talking elementary school pictures, old sketchbooks, it's all yours, no matter how humiliating
Shane:
-um...uh😭🙅♀️
-yeah he is PISSED he's made you cry, he might've been mean when he first saw you, but now??? that is just not allowed in his mind idc
-jumps to self-deprecation immediately, talking about how he's an asshole, how he always fucks things up (🙁)
-just takes the whole blame on himself, no problem with that
-kind of saw this happening in the nearest future, that man does not have a very good opinion of himself let's be honest😭
-you could tell him you forgive him and he'd be like "nah don't do that wtf i don't deserve it😔"
-doesn't try comforting you at first, since he just assumes that you might never want to see him again
-but after the dust settles he reassures you that he's going to do everything to make sure this doesn't happen again
-sends you musty frozen pizza in the mail in retaliation (sigh🙁)
-would love to pretend this never happened, but making you cry really took a hit on his self-esteem, however it also made him think about how to be the best partner you can have
General, friends, pre-relationship, established relationship.
General
💛he has a finger board. Those lil skateboards you do tricks with your fingers. He was obsessed with them when he was younger and made a lil park for it out of cardboard (this came to me from my dad who made his own mini skateboard when he was a kid so thx for the idea dad)
💛Never cleans his room cuz he says everything is where it’s supposed to be.
💛terrible cook. He’s the worst at measurements and often forgets he’s cooking so he nearly burns the house down every time.
💛he loves tie-dye! He likes making his own shirts, hoodies, tank tops, stuff like that and he can make a pretty cool design.
💛owned a gameboy, now he has a switch and often plays Mario kart.
💛tried doing a stick and poke tattoo. Now he has a wonky smiley face on one of his fingers.
Friends
💛will always be the friend to yap your ear off but is always so interested in your life and your stories, tell him about the day you lost your shoes and couldn’t do anything on the farm! Anything! He’ll listen, and you can talk to him for hours if you’re also a fellow yapper.
💛invites himself over sometimes. You’ll be working on your farm then look over to see him hanging from a tree branch upside down enthusiastically smiling
💛friendship bracelets galore! Handmade ones, ones he buys, all of them. He got you two spider man themed ones, ones with your initials, you have a lot of friendship bracelets, and even matching guitar pick necklaces. (He bought them and insisted you wore them.)
💛never the first to fall asleep at a sleepover. If you fall asleep first, which you will, he’ll draw a moustache, stars, hearts, and smiley faces on your face with sharpie:).
💛very loyal, sticks up for you and defends your name when you’re not around.
💛if you play an instrument, he’d love you to be in his band !
💛very close with your mother..when she comes to visit suddenly Sam is visiting too! He’s like nendou with saikis mom..
Crushing
💛doesn’t know how to act around you anymore. Stutters, flushes, gets all sweaty, zones out staring at your pretty face
💛he gets way more touchy. Not weirdly! He doesn’t ever wanna make you u comfortable, but there’s a lot more fleeting touches, and him keeping a spare jacket of his to give to you, or insists on holding your hand going through crowds and hugging you a lot more.
💛he stares at you a lot. Like I stated before. He’ll be looking at you talk like a puppy. Big eyes glimmering with interest and love, lips slightly parted, just totally infatuated. When you look over at him and say his name he snaps out of it.
💛gifts you stuff out of nowhere. He likes to make handmade gifts even though it takes him a long time bc he can’t sit down.
💛gifts include bracelets, pipe cleaner stick figures of you and him, pipe cleaner flowers, Lego flowers, and beaded hair accessories.
💛oblivious. You could scream at him that you love him and he’ll be like “In a homie way?” So if you’re not bold this crushing stage will last a long time before he finally works up the courage to ask you out, it’s not like he’s afraid of showing you his feelings, or rejection, he’s afraid of losing a friend if you reject him.
Relationship
💛likes carrying you. Bridal style, on his shoulders, on his back. He loves being close to you.
💛built in best friend-boyfriend combo. He never changed after dating you. He was still your overly enthusiastic and energetic best friend, but now he just had a romantic label to him.
💛needy, whiny. Will cry if he’s not touching you 24/7. Always has a hand on your hip, your shoulder, holding hands, kissing your cheek, will sneak away during festivals just to push you up against a wall and kiss you passionately. He just loves you sm <3
💛I saw a tiktok of this girl that had her bf playing fetch with a hair tie in the pool. That’s him, and he’ll enjoy it.
💛writes songs for you. Will play you music if you cry.
💛makes you laugh if you’re crying as well, and quite frankly if you’re crying or not he’ll always fight to get a laugh out of you. The type to put dancing fruit on the tv and copy the dance moves.
💛”sunshine” “baby” “lovey”
💛hold his face, he’s begging. He’ll melt into you and kiss your palms, and finger tips.
💛he likes to lay on/ between your thighs a lot.
💛got your initial on the back of his gages.
💛yours + his initials on his shoes.’
💛if he sees you cooking with his mom theres immediately a wedding set up
💛he sees you playing with Vince? Birth control is in the trash (just joking..)
💛like previously mentioned he’s super close with your mom, will ask for your baby pics and aww and ooo them a bunch, takes a picture of them and has a picture of baby you somewhere.
💛10/10 bf. WE LOVE SAM!!

i’m sick w a sinus infection and want harvey to take care of me 🥺
ohhh noooo, little anon i hope you feel well soon !! harvey would take the best care of you omg:
OOOOOOH MY HEART
harvey would be so comforting :((
obviously he’d be a doting boyfriend 24/7, but if you fell sick?? ohh boy dr. boyfriend is in the house !!
it’s no surprise that he knows all of your favourite foods, and is more than happy to cook up some hearty soup or a tea to help soothe your body and soul (i.e., his 14 heart event)
he’s trying so so hard to be calm, because he Knows that you’re going to be okay, but harvey is such a nervous baby :(( just wants to be by your side to look after you (he wanted to ask you to occupy one of the beds at the clinic, but was worried that the suggestion would sound over-protective)
since he can’t be by your side 24/7, harvey is 100% the type to leave encouraging messages and doodles on post-it notes around the house:
eager to help you with your medication schedule, and to make sure you’re taking their medicine as prescribed (doctors orders!!)
LOVES being able to give you massages if you ask, it may not help your illness medically-speaking, it certainly makes you feel better <3
his nerves would go into overdrive if you attempted to get out of bed to keep up with the farm work, he can take care of it !!
(at least, he can try... harvey has been helping you out around the farm for a while now, so you’d trust him to take care of the chores)
as soon as you’re back to full health, your first priority is figuring out how to make your amazing boyfriend feel as cared for as you did 🥺
