SMF Classics Vol XXX: Kelvin Seabrooks - Thierry Jacob 07.04.1987
The July 4th 1987 tilt between Kelvin Seabrooks and Theirry Jacob in Calais, France for the IBF bantamweight title featured four total knockdowns and the first round was later named Ring Magazine Round of the Year.
Classic looks from both fighters. Seabrooks wore red trunks with white trim and his name in script along the left front leg.
Jacob’s trunks were navy blue and white with a variety of ads.
Both men wore standard red gloves (made by SDI, a British brand).
Jacob had blue shoes and white socks, Seabrooks wore white footwear and socks.
Seabrooks would win this fight via 9th round stoppage, and defend the title successfully two more times before losing to Orlando Canizales in Atlantic City in July of 1988. Jacob suffered his first loss, but would eventually become a world champion at super bantamweight in 1992.
