I found this carcass over at the Oregon coast yesterday when I was with my parents. Unfortunately my parents didn't let me take the carcass home because it was already rotting and there could've been potential legal issues. So instead I wanted to draw it's skull since I couldn't bring it with me. But I'm struggling to figure out what kind of animal skull it is since the rest of the corpse was damaged to the point of no recognition and it's face was either burnt or torn off but it was hard to tell since there were no identifiable bite or cut marks that could have helped solve the problem of the lack of facial remains. So I was wondering if you could help me identify the kind of animal that it was before it's passing? ^^;
It's a pinniped, and after doing some searching I found that the 3 most common pinnipeds/seals in oregon are Stellers sea lions, northern elephant seals, and Pacific harbor seals. Because I can only see the top of the skull without a scale I'll have to guess, but from these species I found that the stellers sea lion skull matched the most

I don't know about the laws in Oregon regarding sea mammals, but most countries have pretty strict laws to protect them so I think it was a good idea to leave it!
