A Different Perspective
I would like to welcome my first official guest writer! Please enjoy a first date story from Dateable Dan: —– Kids, no one talks about how difficult dating can be for men, especially online, but that’s a story for a different time. This is about a woman that agreed to go on a date with me.
After being single for several years I was pretty nervous about a first date. She ended up running late (she later apologized several times) so I found myself sitting in a brewery basking in my anxiety, accompanied by the anxiety of a first date.
When she arrived I had two thoughts. 1. “Whoa, she is out of my league.” 2. “What have I gotten myself into?” Fortunately I remembered how to use my brain and I got us a table. We talked over some food and beer and then talked some more. We were supposed to do a brewery tour at 6 but missed it due to our conversation. We could have done the 7 tour but we missed that as well.
We decided to walk around for a bit and then I suggested that we walk her home since it was getting late and she didn’t live in the best neighborhood. We got to her place and she agreed to a second date.
She travels for work so I don’t know when that will be, but she seemed genuinely interested in seeing me again, so I guess I have that going for me. She also appreciated that I paid for the date, drove a considerable distance to see her, and walked her home. I guess chivalry isn’t dead yet.
Moral of the story: Sometimes you take a risk and it works out.
