Okay I've had a pun in mind for a long time and I've done so many different things with it, but let's get your take: The Mourning Star!
The Mourning Star is one of two legendary weapons wielded by Shade, the enigmatic Immortal of Necromancy and Undead. It is typically depicted in stories and art as a large, spiked ball attached to a chain. Depending on the artist or storyteller, the other end of the chain may be attached to a handle that Shade holds in their left hand, or the chain may seemingly attach to nothing and moves of its own accord.
While Shade’s legendary battle axe Gravedigger appears in more stories and legends, Mourning Star is generally considered equally important in terms of understanding the nature and role that Shade plays in the world.
Gravedigger’s most famous ability is to crack the ground and summon skeletal versions of enemies that Shade has previously defeated to act as their servants or soldiers. In contrast, the Mourning Star is used to smash the very souls of those too evil to be granted even the possibility of unlife.
The insult “May the Mourning Star take you,” is used to convey the sentiment that not only do you wish the target of the insult would die, but rather that you wish them to die twice, with no hope of coming back.
