MR. QUEEN
DAYS second leads
Its some sort of sorcery, this way that a tube of goo could enrapture him to this point. He finds himself familiarising the way that her wrist moves to apply the gloss, swiping this way and that as he wishes that his finger could mimic the same motion.
He falls asleep that night wondering what flavour she’s adopted this month. What would the clear, crimson taste like if he was to submit to the urge that he’s been pushing down for the past six months. Its improper. And anyway, it wasn’t meant to be. Curiosities are made to be catalogued in the mental library of all the things he can never have. Instead, he finds himself completing his creative writing assignment with a characterising glimmer of a gleaming angel who smelled like honey and gave sweet dreams to all. He doesn’t know what thats about. He has to leave the room when he sees her in the morning. She’s doing it again, layering colour as she peers into a little heart shaped mirror. His heart twinges and he has to massage his chest as he finds a secluded seat under a willow tree. But then it starts to rain, and he sighs in defeat, hand lingering above whilst the male watches the initial drops try to break through the tree line and press against his hand. A flood of students gasping and pouring out into the rain indicate to the male that class was in fact cancelled for the day; which makes him feel some form of relief. His dreams the night before was filled with angel wings and golden hair, in the locked library deep in his brain he knows who it was about. But he doesn’t allow himself to pull on that thread. He’s supposed to feel pity for the girl. Does pity feel like his chest is burning every time he sees her? He’s had an increase in heart issues since he’s met her and no doctor has ever been able to tell him the source behind the issue. It burns when he watches her talk to other people. It used to solely occur when he saw her talk to guys, leaning in close, looking more absorbed than she ever has with him. But now he’s noticed the feeling spreading through his lungs like fire. Taking hold whenever he can’t reach out and feel her sat by his side. If this pity is what he has to feel to keep her sat beside him; he’ll take it.
Sick of the pseudo nice people
And the pseudo intellectuals
People politically correcting EVERY SINGLE THING. Oh my god. Stop. Just stop playing the devil's advocate.
Yes, yes it's a bubble dream of mine to date a Korean guy. You know why? Because I have spent years watching ridiculously cute Korean dramas where the male leads are perfection. And not in the conventional way. They cry, they have issues, they get shy, nervous, can have ass hole moments and all that jazz. But they are sincere and earnest and love the female lead more than anything. They understand the unsaid things and they are mature. They understand the little things, they step back when they have to and the second male leads don't stop caring and being friends with the female lead just cos she 'friendzones' him.
So when I say yes haha it's a silly fantasy to date a Korean guy, I mean for all these reasons. Things I would value in a man of any nationality. But in my mind its associated with Korean dramas. And I haven't met any Korean person. And I'm sure Korean men aren't like the male leads in the shows at all. At any rate not ALL Korean men are like that. That's never an assumption I've made because that's beyond stupid. No two people are like. That's like the ABC of common sense. That's why it's a fucking fantasy. That's why it's a 'bubble' dream. This isn't me 'fetishizing a race'. And even in that bubble dream I HOPE to meet a Korean guy with the kind of nature and perosnlaity 99% of the Kdrama leads have. One. I don't just mean any and all Korean men.
Me swooning over the idea of Koreans that the Korean TV shows are feeding me isn't indulging in fetishization. I mean if you really consider that to be something so serious then why is it okay for Americans to be saying they LOVE British accents? (No, I get you, I like them too!)
I get that an argument can be made on being attracted to physical features vs personality traits. But you'd be extremely stupid to think there's some malicious or racist intent or some sort of ignorance to a harmless statement born out of pure and very low-key fangirling.
What I'm really trying to say is that being verbal about your positive image of a certain group of people and expressing your desire to get to know them, isn't a wrong thing. What's wrong is just wanting to pick a fight ALL THE TIME for no reason, just to radiate a 'holier than thou' attitude.
oh my GOD xia lin is icing chu yan’s hand im hyperventilating he hurt his hand for HER and now shes ICING it omg - i know that endgame is w ling but holy shit im feeling fed rn. never before have i experienced second lead syndrome like this before
Second leads in kdramas are weird
Often you just end up wanting all the main characters to stay together the way they were before a couple separates from the group… Plus I’m not sure the writers are aware but because the main characters have a great group dynamic I think they are more likely to become someone’s ot3, not competing otps lol like look at this shit
Romance is a Bonus Book Review
Lee Jong Suk, check. Noona Romance, check. Friends to lovers trope, check! I have to admit for this drama having all my favorite things I was left unimpressed after the first two episodes and seriously considering dropping it. I felt we were just going to be given another poor, hard on her luck, hardworking female lead and a rich, handsome male lead with a mysterious secret. And honestly I’m not gonna lie, thats exactly what we got. But I did indeed push on past the first few episodes and came to enjoy most of my journey through this drama. I think the one thing that really kept me coming back is how well I thought they did the Friends to Lovers thing. I liked how supportive Eun Ho was of Dan-i, he was always by her side from the start of their friendship, through her marriage and divorce and then through their romantic relationship. Even as he came to realize his own feelings for her he never forced or manipulated her, though he got jealous a few times I feel like he was still supportive of her if she wanted to pursue a relationship with Ji Seo Joon, he was always putting her first. He really was almost like a second lead, he never came across with the arrogant, jerk personality that so many male leads have. They were very cute as a couple, almost a little too cutesy for me (all the cringe) but I enjoyed them.
As for the supporting cast I can say I did not get any SLS from watching this drama, I never felt any real connection between Ji Seo Joon and Kang Dan-i and I don't know if its what the writers intended or if they just didn’t act it out well. Song Hae Rin had me confused sometimes as she was so competent and fierce at work but then outside of that environment she was a hot mess a lot of the time through her relationships. I enjoyed most of the secondary relationships but I did not get on board with the CEO and Miss Go’s, I feel like they just wanted to match everyone up and threw it together last minute without really playing it out throughout the drama like everyone else’s story. I feel like she deserved more as her story was made out to be more important but then it just kind of fell flat.
The one thing I did not like about this drama was just how unrealistically passionate everyone was about their job and making books. Like after work they would be at the bookstore? Like really? After work I’m running as far from work related things as possible! I get that there are people who really love and enjoy what they do but that the whole office was that way, even the interns who just came on board just for a job seems over the top.
Overall I did enjoy the drama and surprisingly finished it! I have such a bad habit of dropping dramas in the middle and saying I’ll get back to them later. Later never comes. I would recommend this drama if you are looking for a cute romantic comedy with not a lot of drama. The leads are adorable and the cast is funny and quirky, though the overall plot is pretty cliche and the climax of the surrounding mystery fell a little short, its overall a light, fluffy read...errr I mean watch! (wink)
Is it weird that I’ve never had second-lead syndrome? 🤔😅
Soulmates
What if second leads are the soulmates of the main leads but they just missed that "chance". They missed that chance to have a happy ending with the main lead. The only thing that they can do is look after the main lead and the first lead shghshhsjhg :------(
