If someone doesn't graffiti some intensely gay shit on my grave I'm haunting all you motherfuckers
Beginning in the 1890's, an extensive gay world took shape in the streets, cafeterias, saloons and apartments of New York City... This flourishing gay world...was wiped into historical oblivion by a fierce backlash in the 30's -- part of a wider Depression-era condemnation of the cultural experimentation of the 20's, which many blamed for the economic collapse... In New York, laws were enacted prohibiting homosexuals from gathering in any state-licensed public place... In the early 30's, after a generation of films had dealt with gay images, the new Hollywood production code prohibited gay characters and even talk of homosexuality in films.

Monday Morning Update to Yesterday’s Post About Pride and Second Life
Watching the video below I can see clear as day how the Pride movement draws in so many people, in Second Life especially. Were it not for "the pink pound", Second Life likely wouldn't still exist; and in a way Linden Lab's business runs on continuing to survive like a cult, to large degree. It's all kind of intertwined. Then there are the parallels between sci-fi/feminist communities and Marion Zimmer Bradley for instance, as well. There's a lot of exploitation running through it, of men included.

It has me pondering on how cults effectively become movements and businesses, and can be far more "successful" for taking that route.
I've never been big on Plato, but this video caught my eye this morning too, and I will throw it in on a somewhat more positive note.
Much of the ugliness that's presented to us in the world, as referred to in the video here, is a direct appeal to the disordered.

It’s an unofficial tradition that my friends and I started celebrating ‘Second Pride’. It’s because we are typically busier in June than we are in July so doing important Pride activities such as making fan art and doing Pride-related Asks get delayed.
Of course I post and reblog gay stuff all year...but Second Pride is when I set time aside to do more of that.
So that’s what the Second Pride captions and tags are about. You can ignore them or use them yourself if you also post Pride stuff in July.
