Zakaria Al-Jaber, around the age of 6, was traveling with his mother in a taxi on their way to the Prophet’s mosque and grave in the middle of the day. The taxi driver, for yet unestablished reasons, then pulled over the car, got out, and forced the boy out of the car near a coffee shop in the Al-Tilal neighborhood. The taxi driver then broke a glass bottle to obtain a shard of glass, which he then used to cut the throat of the child and stab him.
We join activists in their call for a thorough investigation into this horrific murder and for the Saudis to explore eye-witness accounts and claims from those close to the family of the victim that sectarianism had a part to play in this senseless and brutal attack.
