Flick! What's your favourite and least favourite type of punctuation??
Oooh, Max, you ask the good questions!!
Favourite: hmm. I want to say the comma, since I'm always in awe at just how much they can change the context and rhythm of a sentence, but I'm also partial to a good semi-colon.
Least: I think my time teaching English as a foreign language has soured me on full stops, of all things.
They are surprisingly difficult for Japanese students to grasp, and I'm frankly tired of pointing out that they forgot the "periodo" (in Ireland, we don't call them periods; we call them full stops. Almost everything English-related in Japan is Americanised to shit, but that's a whole different rant). I've actually been tempted to stop deducting marks for missing full stops, because of the overwhelming amount of students who consistently forget to use them.
Max, please tell me yours, because now I'm very curious!!
