i read a lot as a kid but i remember hating SOOOO many of the tropes / just kind of…. letting the tropes happen to get to the meat. i’ve always liked the weird gothic corruption style high fantasy stuff. and fairies

HARD same on the fairy thing, i had like. a whole encyclopedia style book on various fae and fairy lore throughout the ages gkhgg and i have always had a soft spot for urban fantasy even if the really really good examples of the genre are kind of few and far between

What better way to celebrate than to share my favourite fics from my favourite creators!

A series -- a whole series -- of fics here, all so great I cannot simply pic one, centered around a developing relationship between Nathan Summers and Frank Castle. Inbox tells fantastic stories and creates a very enjoyable sense of emotional tension while being pleasantly spare with words. Fics are all rated E, be mindful of the tags.

Both of these fics are Cablepool and they’re a couple of my very most favourite in the tag. Quakey has a great voice for Nate, I think. Both fics rated E, mind the tags.

Kris sets a really wonderful tone in all of his work. He creates a patter in the layout of the words that feels like the character. You’re no bold villain takes place an AU in which Stryfe was taken at a young age by Cable and handed off to be raised by Scott and Jean. Marigolds is a very sweet fic about Cliff Steele and Larry Trainor working on gardening together. And liar, lawyer is a fic in the Cyberpunk AU about Matthew getting his first repairs from David. None of the fics go above an M rating, and they’re honestly all amazing.

A Reminder and Mean Fucking Bastard by @saulsgoodman

Two of the best Liebercastle fics out there, and they’re both paced super well. When I reread them I always want there to be more; the author has a really great way with words and his characterizations are always amazing. Both these fics are rated E, and again, please mind the tags.

Whoa I had no idea that’s the inspiration for that book….. Wow

yeah she's said it was an ‘’inspiration’’ as opposed to entirely based on but the similarities are so so obvious what with him being a frequent cheater who had an unworried reaction to his wifes disappearance on the news who was then found with a massive stash of expensive items AND who took out a insurance policy  for his wife after discovering her pregnancy so i think she was underplaying how much of this particular case went into it
