So, just a thought
SPOILER WARNING FOR THE DARK CRYSTAL: AGE OF RESISTENCE
I was rewatching episode 8, and when Deet had her vision I couldn’t help but feel like I something was familiar.
So, it’s obvious the woman running is Brea- and she’s carrying what looks like a baby or young child.
Then we see the Garthim chasing after her.
Well, according to the original movie, this is Kira’s origin.
Boom.

The Emperor:
Thoughts and feelings of TDC:AOR EP 1.
This was something I had wanted to do since I finished The Dark Crystal: AOR. Just talk about the moments in each episode that made me emotional, had fun hidden details, or moments I just liked or disliked in all 10 episodes.
Disclaimers:
These posts are most likely going to be lengthy. Since all episodes are around an hour long, there’s a lot I wanna talk about. So prepare for a lot of reading.
I do not own any media used in this post (Pictures, gifs, etc.) All images and gifs belong to their respective owners.
Most, if not all images will be scenes I screenshot from Netflix.
I apologize if any images are blurry/pixelated. Due to my old computer and bad wifi, some images may be of lesser quality.
This post will include some personal opinions towards certain scenes and characters, and these opinions may not match yours. I will respect your opinions, I just ask that you respect mine.
I also apologize for any formatting issues. I type these up in Google Docs (So if my computer restarts unexpectedly, my work will be saved. Plus I use it for spelling and grammar checking.)

EPISODE ONE : END. BEGIN. ALL THE SAME.
The first episode. One of my personal favorites.
“From the proud Vapra in the mountain city of Ha’ar, the most cultured of the gelfling, who rule over the seven clans. To the fierce Stonewood, who dwell in the Endless Forest, renowned for their prowess in battle, and the gentle Grottan, who live deep beneath the ground, in perfect harmony with Thra, forgotten by the world above.”
One of my all-time favorite scenes from AOR was the intro of the first episode. I loved the explanation of the backstory, and I loved the way the clans of the main characters were introduced.
“And you have to admit, these do look tasty.”
I may sing my praises about Deet, but Rian is also one of my favorite characters. I love his personality, and he’s a really big goofball.Plus Taron Egerton is the perfect voice actor for him.
“Will I get to talk to the Skeksis? I have so many questions!”
I love nerdy royalty. But that’s not the only reason I adore Brea. I love her kindness, and how she’s willing to give something up in order to help someone else, like during the tithing ceremony, she suggested that she could help the farmers with their tithe. So yeah, I love her.
Also, I love the fact that she’s oh so slightly taller than Tavra.
“Grottans live in the darkened deep, where the glow moss grows and the crawlies creep.”
Deet is my all-time favorite. The second she was first introduced,I instantly fell in love with her. Her kindness and compassion for all the cave creatures, and to her family just moved me. She also has puppy dog eyes. I can’t resist that.
“Oh, look. There she is.”
I still don’t know how to feel about Seledon. Later, I go into deeper details on why I’m going back and forth between “like” and “dislike.” To put it simply, I wasn’t sure if I liked her or not. Still not sure.
“You say “Let’s have an adventure, Gurjin! It’ll be great fun, Gurjin!” Except it never is!”
At first, I just saw Gurjin as the funny side-kick character. Now, I see him a bit differently. He’s still the funny side-kick character, but he’s a cute, funny side-kick character. I also hope more interactions happen between him and Rian in the future. Also, this was the first time I noticed that the characters have tinsel streaks in their hair.
“If it’s fun you’re looking for.”
These two are cute.
“It was my mother’s. Her final wisdom is dream-etched into the stone.”
This scene made me kinda sad. The hurt in her eyes as her husband took the pendent from her and gave it to the Skeksis made me hurt. But when Brea snuck the pendent back from her mother and gave it back to the farmer’s wife made me a bit better about the whole thing. Still don’t like the Skeksis for stealing it in the first place.
My lords, help me!”
Poor Mira. She was a good character. She was sweet, kind, and adventurous. She went too soon. And I can’t help but think that Mira wasn’t designed to be a long-term character, but a character made to be an example of the Skeksis’s cruelness. I know someone had to be killed off in that way, but I wished they used a side character, maybe one of the other guards of the castle. Someone that wasn’t all that important to Rian. I hate seeing him cry.

And that’s it for this episode! Feel free to reblog and add your own opinions! And feel free to leave constructive criticism! Every little bit helps me make these better in the future!
Yes I am a Seledon apologist. Yes I think she is the most frustrating character for most of the show. We exist.
