listen up self inserts are great. don’t put down the imagination that makes you happy. if your ocs are you, what’s so wrong with that? media is created for you to be indulgent. you shouldn’t feel like a failure because you’re exploring a world that you love firsthand without a mask.
you shouldn’t have to ration out portions of yourself just because others are ashamed to witness what you could have been.
you shouldn’t have to starve the wonder in you because others are unable to see beyond their own nose, and care more about the muse /oc than the writer of that beautiful being, the conduit of a circuit and the battery of a communicator between worlds.
self inserts are awesome and I’d be real happy if more people wrote them, gave themself the freedom to look in a mirror and hash it out with their flaws in a place that could never do them harm, in a place that is kind enough to provide cushioning.
