The world was shifting once again, as it tended to around them as of late. The light warm air of Hyrule Field just outside of Ordon Village dropped into a tepid humidity. The soft soil solidified into concrete, and the peaceful silence they had been enjoying flooded with idle townsfolk chatter, construction activity, a stray’s barking, and the almost deafening chime from a short clock tower right beside them.
The serene atmosphere tensed.
Something felt different.
They weren’t supposed to be there!
He’s been here. At this exact hour. On this day. At every. New. Start.
He’d never seen them before.
They shouldn’t be possible.
“Th-The quickest way to the canyon is through the East Gate,” a soft stutter chimed from just behind his right ear. She seemed just as unsettled as he was, though he didn’t show it. He could hear the bells in her hair chittering from her nerves.
This was too much. He shook his head. Was this place really throwing something new at him this far in?
A short whine escaped one adorned with a light blue hat similar to his own. It prompted another in a white shawl to come closer and knead at the base of his shoulders and neck. Though it didn’t ease the pained, annoyed grimace the younger sported, he leaned into the massage.
The anomalies all looked a bit dazed, staring at nothing as they try to regain their bearings. Glancing at the usually snarky light fairy beside him, he made a snap decision he prayed he wouldn’t regret later.
Catching her attention, he took off in a sprint to their left. She quickly trailed behind him before ducking into his hat. If the kid wanted to ignore this glaring oddity for a cycle or two, she wasn’t going to complain.
They had more pressure issues to worry about anyway.
