Sverre Fehn: Schreiner House, Langmyrgrenda 79, Oslo; 1963
Private villa by Sverre Fehn (14 August 1924 - 23 February 2009), who was a Norwegian architect. His highest international honour came in 1997, when he was awarded both the Pritzker Architecture Prize and the Heinrich Tessenow Gold Medal. the Schreiner house has called "homage au japan", it stands at close quarters with the nature surrounding it. With all its sliding doors and glass it's flexible like japanese houses. the deck or veranda linked the doors into the children's room, the bedroom and the dining room. The building material used is wood. "From the street, Fehn's Schreiner House does not exactly present a friendly face to the world. A more introverted design, more self-defined and self-sustaining, could hardly be imagined." writes David Leatherbarrow.
