Meanwhile, her constituents aren’t as fortunate to be a wealthy Congresswoman. She’s paying down $20K in her 20s... My student loan was fucking WAY larger than hers and I’m still paying it off.
I’m taking my time paying it off out of sheer sadism. There’s barely anything left on mine. I’m just dragging it out to make them sweat; thinking I may die before the last penny leaves my cold dead hand. I don’t go bragging that I can pay it off like AOC. No, I’m just being a cunt to the establishment.
AOC is being a cunt to the hard working people of America by bragging that she can pay that amount. She probably doesn’t have to. Most student loans are roughly half that amount per month. Yeah, it’s a lot depending on how long you go and where you live.
Still, that means either she didn’t have a heavy loan to start with (5 years, because she’s 29), or she’s been paying that amount per month for nearly 5 years. If the latter, her loan was roughly $94,229.60 including interest. I don’t think she had that much as a barista, so there’s either her parents or some other method, or she had one or more scholarships to bring that amount down. That means to be at $19K with this recent payment, she either paid off $75K in 5 years or she’s only paying the last of it down faster now that she’s got the income of a Congresswoman.
Assuming her loan was less for the sake of parent savings and the possibility of scholarships, the loan could have started at $40K or so, meaning she was only required to pay the monthly fee of a small car at minimum -- about $250 to $500 per month on the terms. She could have even refinanced to bring the payments down with good credit by extending her terms. There’s just no perspective on what her loan agreement might be or had been.
That means, she’s only saying she’s making so much money as a Congresswoman to afford that high a payment per month and not break the bank. She’s paying for a home (rent or own), travel, food, cable, internet, and all sorts of stuff that the Government doesn’t cover or reimburse, and still able to buy expensive attire, manicures, makeup, and the like. You can guess that she’s at least bringing in double that amount per paycheck.
So, when she’s flinging around “FREE” and “WIPE OUT COLLEGE DEBT”, keep in mind that she makes a metric fuckton more than the average American as she does so. Congress should be paid the same as the average American median income -- no more, no less.

She makes $191,533 per year as a single-person income...

The average median household income is $60,336, whether it’s one or two, sometimes more, income earners in a household. For anyone to make as much as her, they’re very fortunate; yet, many at that level are dual or more income households.
This makes AOC’s take-home paycheck to be about $6K biweekly or $12K per month. Here’s a thought: Why doesn’t she spread some of that money around like a good Communist?
They should have term limits. They should pitch into a retirement plan and not a taxpayer funded Government pension plan. They should be criminally prohibited from insider trading. The laws of the land must apply to them as much as they want to take money from us to fund their stupid as fuck ideas -- Republican and Democrat alike. They shouldn’t be allowed to make more than the average median American household from their motherfucking district.
She should be bringing in 67% less at $62,765 per year per New York’s median household income.
