ok, i thought i would just expand on the sentence,
"you're cute, for a black girl."
ok, that is the rudest thing someone has ever said to me. it's like saying, "you're cute, suprisingly despite being black." you may think it's a compliment but you don't see white girls being complimented as "you're cute for a white girl." my skin color shouldn't put me in a seperate category from my friends or classmates.
our culture is a community, being black isn't the stereotypical making dance trends, or twerking, or even wearing fake hair and huge hoop earrings. you don't realize, that by saying that, you are tearing down other woman in our culture. so while you may think it's a compliment, it's terribly rude. because not all black girls are against each other. because at the end of the day, we must stick together, since we are seeing our sons, fathers, brothers, and cousins shot by the white men, and even those of our race. don't say "you're one of the prettiest black girls i have ever seen". don't compare us. we are constantly fighting our way to fit into society, so don't tear us down.
