A lesson learned and a lesson taught. We play the victim more often that we probably want to admit. I say we, because I know I do it too. I have seen so many patients in the traditional healthcare system show up and what to be fixed, to be magically healed. 2 visits go by and they want to know Why there pain isnt gone. "WHY, I came to PT, YOU said it was going to help and I'm still in pain." 2 visits is 2 hours tops in one week in the clinic with your therapist. There are 161 more hours that you are NOT in PT. What are you doing then? 2 hours is nothing compared to 161 hours. No, you dont need to be exercising for 160 hours but you do need to take some action and create the reality that you want. Healing takes time and it takes action. You cannot sit in the passenger's seat and expect to be healed, to be fixed. So what can you do to help the healing process? Well in terms of physical pain and PT, you can: 1. Make sure you're sleeping enough. 2. Stay hydrated. 3. Start meditation or another stress management technique 4. Go for a walk (if your pain/injury allows it). In general, get moving to to the best of your ability. Our bodies are made for movement, they like movement. 5. I'll say it again for those in the back, MANAGE YOUR STRESS BETTER 6. Check your language/check your mindsett: do you have a "bad" leg? Is your back "messed up"? What you believe, you achieve. Think you have a bad back, you'll continue to have a bad back because you'll take actions that make your back feel like crap #selffulfilling prophecy. 7. Mobilize/stretch: check w/ your PT but move your body in gentle ways to improve facial mobility & overall muscle function 8. Other alternative therapies that make you feel good: acupuncture is my favorite. Reiki, massage, journaling, therapy, there are so many ways to serve yourself. 9. Eat real foods: fuel your body with the nutrients it needs to heal and build muscle. Use good to decrease internal inflammation. 10. Please, do your PT exercises. We don't just pull them out of thing air. Take action. Advocate for yourself. Ask for help. You can heal yourself. #kmholistichealth #livegoodfeelgood https://www.instagram.com/p/B6D3l4yguLq/?igshid=1oke2wtqnx2sc
