They have a plan
Senator Al Franken just said (evening of Thurs, 1/26/17) on Rachel Maddow that Senate Democrats have a strategy that they are applying to Trump’s cabinet nominees. He declined to give details about the plan (sensibly, since there’s nothing stopping the opposition from watching), but, when asked why some Senate Democrats voted “yes” for the 4 nominees confirmed so far, reminded us that even if all Democrats vote “no” en masse, still can’t block a nominee unless three Republicans join them. He then refrained from winking and nudging, while mentioning by name several nominees who can reasonably be considered to be more dangerously unqualified and/or corrupt than the ones so far given a reluctant stamp of Democratic approval.
In other words, Sen. Franken absolutely did not say that he and his fellow Democrats agreed to vote in the least-objectionable ones first and give them a respectable margin, thus making the Trump cabinet look like something other than a smoking tire fire on day one, in exchange for Republican assistance with blocking other picks, such as Betsy “I have no idea what a school is” DeVos for Education Secretary. That is what Sen. Franken did not say out loud on national TV where anyone could watch. If you know what I mean, wink-wink, nudge-nudge, say no more.
