"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see."? . 🎨🖌🎨🖌🎨 . In his quote, Henry David Thoreau points out the difference between perception and the senses. We base our immediate interpretation through our sensory on what we know of something – what we have learned, and experienced. However, our impression or “perception”, sees beyond the obvious, whether imagined, exaggerated, or not. For instance, at first glance of a painting, you see paint strokes on canvas. But what you may perceive is this masterpiece of beauty and mystery, which brings a variety of feelings and thoughts, that only you may get from viewing this painting. . 🖌🎨🖌🎨🖌 . The point of the quote, which I believe is important for us to survive and be happy, is that what and how you perceive something in life is more important than what we have seen or see from first view. Meaning, it’s more important to see through our mind’s eye, rather than just our physical eye.😉 . 🎨🖌🎨🖌🎨 . #henrydavidthoreau #sensoryperception #impression #mindovermatter #mindsview #gratitude #artmotivation #artinspiration #liveyourpassion #instagramartist #debbieslivingcanvas https://www.instagram.com/p/B3AOtXPnh0h/?igshid=1f10rrfx2kaqv

(i’m about to get real personal)
I have a son. He is 7 months old. I’m writing this to not only vent, but also keep track of his symptoms. I think my son has sensory perceptions problems. I’ve always thought he was different (and not at all in a bad way). He’s sweet and loving when he wants to be.
Lately, he hits hard when he gets excited. And he kicks, hard.
He has a high tolerance when it comes to pain. He cut his nose on a cup and didn’t flinch.
His sleep pattern has always been shady. He has to have a certain environment, be patted to sleep and wakes up over the smallest creak of a floor. He’ll sleep for 15 or 2 hours a time at night before waking up, crying like he’s terrified.
He isn’t like super interested in toys. He favors “odd” toys. Like cups. He smacks them together for the noise. But he doesn’t play with a toy to play with it. His interest lacks.
During bath time, he splashes. Like, excessively. To the point where it gets me soaking wet. He gets very excited but doesn’t know how to physically express his emotions (i know he’s 7 months, but like, a typical for sure)
He doesn’t like physical affection. And he doesn’t really ever seek it. I have to hold him a certain way every time or he gets fussy. He never wants to lay with me. He hates being on his back.
Getting him dressed has just become “okay he’s going to get upset, let me do this as quickly as i can”. He hates the act of me dressing him. And diaper changes. He cries during those.
He smiled late. And I’ve rarely heard him GENUINELY laugh. He started smiling at 4 months?
He scratches him self.
He doesn’t attach to items, doesn’t self soothe
Now, with that said. I love my son. He’s fucking hilarious. His personality is starting to really show. And he loves pickles likes me. But, how does I address this to the pediatrician? Is it something he’ll grow out of? I need to know ways to accomate him with how I approach my parenting style. Parenting is crazy.
