Year 2 Day 111

I’m in shock… We found the barrow, and…it’s brimming with septims and jewels and more!!! Thankfully there’s no way in without the key, so we can carefully extract it all over the next several days. For the first time in my life, I might be rich! There should be more than enough here to cover the taxes I owe. I just…I almost wish I could just run away with it all, find some small village away from everything else, somewhere that I won’t have to worry about the war, dragons, Miraak, vampires, anything at all!

But I couldn’t do that, not anymore.

We also encountered Deathbrand himself, in spectral form. We had no choice but to strike him down, but we obtained a powerful pair of blades from the act. Teldryn is excited to wield them, as that’s his specialty. We’re going to return to Raven Rock at once, but we won’t focus on moving all this coin quiet yet, just enough to cover what I owe, plus some of basic needs. Miraak takes priority now.

Year 2 Day 70

Work has been good. I’ll send along some septims with the letter I write tonight. I believe I’ve found a trustworthy courier now, so I can send more to Lydia.

I may have finally found a lead on Miraak, in a historical tome on Solstheim. I should have made this connection long ago, but maybe I can find the answers in the ruins here, specifically in the ruins that have been undiscovered. So far, there are two possible leads: some “discovery” in the mines here, and an excavation project just outside town. I think I’ll talk more to this miner fellow about the mines, as it sounds like the excavation outside town has barely begun.

Well, time to write home before sleep.

Dear Lucia and Lydia,

First off, Lucia, yes I do need to practice my drawing, thank you, and yes that creature is really real. If things work out over here, maybe the two of you could come visit and I could show them to you. For now, I’ll hang up your drawing on the wall of my room to remind me of you. However…I’m not sure your drawing is too accurate, I don’t remember you being taller than me!

Lydia, private please. I’ve finally found a break that I hope leads to Miraak. And don’t you dare leave Lucia. I don’t trust anyone as much as I trust you with her. I know the Companions are good people, but Lucia needs someone she’s familiar with, and none of them are any sort of caretaker. Thank you for the offer, but the mercenary I’ve hired is doing well enough. Don’t worry about me. I’ve included 1,240 septims. Save as much as you can, as I don’t know how much I’ll be able to send next time.
